Historic McGregor home remains lodging establishment, but with new name

One of McGregor’s most historic homes is remaining a lodging establishment—but with a new name. The Stauer House Bed and Breakfast, located at 629 Main St., is now Point Ann Place, a whole house rental available on the sites Airbnb and Vrbo. (Submitted photos)

Aside from the addition of a rec family area in the basement, which offers a big screen smart TV, card table and games and puzzles, new owners Joan and Paul Burns have made few changes to the home.

The home, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1882. “The light fixtures, furnishings, photographs, historic documents from the Stauer and Ramage families—that really makes it priceless,” said owner Joan Burns.

Point Ann Place has six bedrooms and 5.5 baths, and can host up to 12 guests.

Point Ann Place offers a full kitchen for guests to utilize.

About a year later, his father remarried and he was raised by Elsie and his father.
