Fifth seeded Cuba City nipped host and fourth seeded Seneca/Wauzeka-Steuben 35-34 in overtime in a Division 6 high school football playoff game Friday night.

SWS ended a fine season in which the Blue-Golds went 9-0 to win the Ridge and Valley Conference for the second straight year.

SWS finished the season at 9-1.

On a cool, brisk morning, the Prairie du Chien cross country team was setting up camp. The boys were up first on the day. Race time was at 11 a.m. and it was 41 degrees and very windy.

Wauzeka-Steuben, River Ridge and Seneca competed in the Division 3 Boscobel Sectional cross country meet on Saturday.

Jacob Reichmann of Wauzeka-Steuben took seventh in 17:23.5 in the boys meet to qualify for the state meet on Oct. 27 in Wisconsin Rapids. The Wauzeka-Steuben boys took third with 94 points at the sectional. Tyler Walters took eighth in a time of 17:35.2 to just miss qualifying for the state meet. Gabe Martin was 21st in 18:27.3. Hunter Marfilius was 28th in 18:43.7. Reed Stenner was 30th in 18:49.9. Zach Martin was 35th in 19:05.7. Isaac Reichmann was 52nd in 19:39.3.

Three area cross country runners earned a trip to the state cross country meet to be held on Oct. 27 at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.

Prairie du Chien hosted Mauston for the regional quarterfinal match on Tuesday night. 

With a rowdy crowd of students, parents and fans, (not ready to see the season end) the Blackhawks were on the attack keeping the Golden Eagles on their heels. 

The Blackhawks took set one 25-15, and rode that momentum through the rest of the match, winning set two 25-19 and set three 25-15.

The Prairie du Chien boys soccer team began regional play hosting the Warriors of Ozaukee Tuesday afternoon on the Bluff View Pitch.  

The Hawks started out quick, and with just 3:56 into the contest, Mark Welter fired a powerful and perfect kick for Prairie’s first goal.  

Nineteen minutes later, (22:02) it was Ben Teynor’s turn, ripping through the Warrior defense then pounding it in for Prairie’s second goal.

Tuesday night, Prairie du Chien volleyball honored Breast Cancer Awareness Month as well as Robbie Mason in her fight against cancer. It was also Senior Night.  

With an awesome crowd, the Blackhawks took on the Lancaster Arrows. The Blackhawks started off their very emotional night winning set 1 (25-20) and set 2 (25-13), but the Arrows didn’t give up, winning set 3 (25-23). The Blackhawks didn’t let it go to a 5th set, winning set 4 (25-20).
