beat Fennimore

Prairie du Chien defeated visiting Fennimore 42-31 in a nonconference girls basketball game Friday night. 

Prairie took the first half 22-16 and the second half 20-15 to earn the victory. 

Prairie du Chien is now 1-0 on the season, while Fennimore dropped to 0-2.

The Prairie du Chien High School boys soccer team ended their regular season with a tough 9-0 loss to the 12-time State Finalist, 6-time State Champion, Prairie Hawks of The Prairie School at Wind Point Thursday night.

Amber Huser competed well on Saturday at the WIAA State Cross Country Championships in Wisconsin Rapids to finish in 26th place out of 152 girls competing in the Division II race.

She got out with the front pack and then settled into a nice steady pace. The entire boys’ and girls’ Prairie du Chien cross country teams traveled with Huser to Wisconsin Rapids to cheer her on.

Antoine Wins

Matt Antoine of Prairie du Chien won day two of USA Skeleton National Team Trials at Mount Van Hoevenberg on Oct. 24. The series will move on to Park City, Utah for the final two races before the team is named on Nov. 3.

“There was a lot of shuffling around for positions in day two and it shows the depth of our program,” said USA Skeleton Head Coach Tuffy Latour. “It’s anyone’s game as we head into the second half of races in Park City, and we’re really excited to see who rises to the top.”

Strong showing by Hornet runners at sectional

The Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets cross country team had a strong showing at the Division 3 Sectional Championship Meet at Fennimore on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Hornets ran at Fennimore earlier this season at the Golden Eagle Relays so they were familiar with the course. The WSHS coaches challenged their runners to improve on their earlier Fennimore course times by 30 to 60 seconds and most of the athletes were up to the challenge.

Southwestern stops River Ridge

Southwestern defeated host River Ridge in a Division 4 Regional Semifinal volleyball match Thursday night. Southwestern won by scores of 25-21, 25-18, 20-25 and 25-22.
