The Prairie du Chien girls basketball team beat host Lancaster 63-41 in an SWC clash Thursday night, Jan. 20.

The Lady Blackhawks went ahead 28-19 at the half. They then took the second half 35-22 to gain the victory.

Blackhawks second at Fort Atkinson TKO


Brogan Brewer works for a fall against his West Allis Hale opponent in the semi finals of the TKO. Brewer would earn a 15-4 major decision in the finals.

On Saturday, the Blackhawk grapplers traveled to Fort Atkinson for the 11th annual TKO (Terry Kramer Open). Seventeen teams were in attendance, comprised of nine D1 teams, six D2 teams, and two D3 teams.

The Prairie du Chien girls basketball team easily handled visiting Onalaska 56-26 in a nonconference match-up Tuesday night. 

The Lady Hawks upped their overall record to 12-1. Onalaska dropped to 6-9.

On Saturday, Jan. 8, the Division 2, fourth ranked Prairie du Chien Wrestling Blackhawks traveled far north to the Merrill Bluejay Challenge.

On Thursday night, the Prairie du Chien Blackhawks wrestling team traveled to Lancaster for an SWC dual meet. The D2, #4 ranked PDC Blackhawks were looking to get the new year started with a great showing. 

The dual started at 113#, where the Blackhawks would have to forfeit.

Prairie du Chien-Fennimore Gymnastics traveled to Viroqua Tuesday for a nonconference dual meet. The girls finished second with a team score of 124.025, a season best, and Viroqua had a score of 130.40.

The Prairie du Chien-Fennimore gymnastics team traveled to Mount Horeb on Saturday, Jan. 8 for a seven-team invitational. 

There was a lot of tough competition there that day.

Prairie du Chien grapplers at Bi-State


Prairie du Chien wrestlers who placed at the Bi-State Classic: Rhett Koenig (first), Luke Kramer (ninth), Ryder Koenig (eighth), Brogan Brewer (eighth), and Blake Thiry (10th).

Rhett Koenig secures a takedown in the quarterfinals against his opponent from Tomah. Koenig would go on to win by fall in this match on his way to a Bi-State title.

The 39th Annual Bi-State Classic, hosted by Holmen High School, was held on Dec. 29-30 at the La Crosse Center. After a one-year hiatus due to Covid-19, wrestlers and wrestling fans were more than excited for the great atmosphere and excellent wrestling this tournament brings every year.
