Wauzeka-Steuben Cross Country

Strong showing by Hornet runners at sectional

The Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets cross country team had a strong showing at the Division 3 Sectional Championship Meet at Fennimore on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Hornets ran at Fennimore earlier this season at the Golden Eagle Relays so they were familiar with the course. The WSHS coaches challenged their runners to improve on their earlier Fennimore course times by 30 to 60 seconds and most of the athletes were up to the challenge.

Southwestern defeated host River Ridge in a Division 4 Regional Semifinal volleyball match Thursday night. Southwestern won by scores of 25-21, 25-18, 20-25 and 25-22.

Prairie soccer team takes Regional Championship

The Prairie du Chien boys soccer team won the WIAA Division 4 Sectional 3 Regional with victories over the Racine Lutheran Crusaders and the Kenosha St. Joseph’s Lancers.

On Thursday, the Blackhawks hosted Racine Lutheran in the first round of regional competition. Prairie dominated play for most of the game, scoring four times in the first half.

Top seeded Seneca swept visiting eighth-seeded Riverdale three games to none in Division 4 Regional volleyball Tuesday night. 

Seneca won by scores of 25-18, 25-9 and 25-18 to advance in the playoffs. They will host No. 4 Ithaca on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the regional semifinal.

Seneca wins Ridge and Valley title

Seneca swept visiting Wauzeka-Steuben three games to none in a Ridge and Valley volleyball match Thursday night. 

The victory secured the conference championship for the Seneca girls who improved to 11-0 on the season and 7-0 in conference action. 

Wauzeka-Steuben fell to 3-10 overall and 3-4 in the Ridge and Valley.

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawk soccer team captured the Southwest Wisconsin Conference title on Thursday night with a decisive 6-0 victory over River Valley.  

It was the final regular season game with special recognition to the seniors.

PdC soccer team beats Dodgeville

The Prairie du Chien boys soccer team hosted Dodgeville Monday night on the Bluff View pitch.  

The teams had split their first two meetings making the match a must win for the Blackhawks to stay in the SWC lead.  

Prairie took a quick lead at 9:37 when Jon Dyer found Jack Stoeffler open on the left side and a quick tap gave PdC a the first score.
