Grasshoppers 

sweep Fennimore

The Prairie du Chien varsity American Legion baseball team swept visiting Fennimore in a doubleheader Monday evening at the St. Feriole Island Ballpark. 

The Grasshoppers had to come from behind to win the opener 8-7. The Hoppers fell behind 4-0 after one complete inning, and later, were down 7-2 before rallying for 6 big runs in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to the victory.

Prairie du Chien’s baseball season came to an end in the Evansville Sectional Tuesday afternoon after the top seeded Vikings of Mount Horeb defeated the top seeded Blackhawks 6-4 in a WIAA Division 2 contest.

Mount Horeb scored 2 runs in the top of the first inning to grab a 2-0 lead. 

The lead wouldn’t last for long as Prairie du Chien scored 4 times in the bottom of the second to go up 4-2.

Top seeded Prairie du Chien blanked visiting and fourth seeded Westby 10-0 in five innings in regional baseball action Tuesday afternoon. 

The Blackhawks scored 1 run in the first inning, 1 in the second, 2 in the third, 3 in the fourth and 3 in the fifth to earn the victory. 

Prairie du Chien pounded out 17 hits and committed 1 error. Westby managed 2 hits and committed 2 errors.

Lancaster nipped visiting Prairie du Chien 8-7 in eight innings in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal Tuesday afternoon. 

Prairie took a 5-0 lead after three innings. They scored 2 runs in the second on 2 hits and an error. The Lady Blackhawks added 3 runs in the third on RBI singles by Rilee Wikan and Lauren Kennedy.

Prairie du Chien beat visiting Platteville 6-2 in SWC baseball Tuesday afternoon at Prairie du Chien High School. 

The Blackhawks scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, 1 in the third, 1 in the fourth and 3 in the fifth. 

The Hillmen scored 2 runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Area teams compete in Sparky Reynolds Invitational

The Prairie du Chien, Seneca, Wauzeka-Steuben and River Ridge track and field teams competed in the Sparky Reynolds Invitational in Boscobel on Friday afternoon. 

Prairie du Chien was fifth in the girls’ meet with 41 points. Wauzeka-Steuben tied for sixth with 39 points. River Ridge was 14th with 21.5 points. Twenty teams competed.
