Prairie took a 1-0 lead after one complete inning. 

Prairie erupted for 5 big runs in the bottom of the fourth to increase the margin to 6-0.

Prairie du Chien Country Club hosted the Prairie du Chien Quadrangular boys’ golf meet Tuesday afternoon. 

Cuba City won the meet with a team total of 196. Prairie du Chien had 213, Fennimore 231, and Richland Center 233.

CRR girls win

Cassville-River Ridge, Pecatonica, Southwestern and Seneca competed in the Cassville-River Ridge Softball Tournament on Saturday in Bloomington.

In Round 1, Cassville-River Ridge defeated Pecatonica 14-9. 

CRR led 8-2 following one complete inning and 11-2 after two innings.

River Ridge hosted the River Ridge Quadrangular track meet in Bloomington Thursday afternoon. 

MFL MarMac won the boys meet with 157.5 points. River Ridge was second with 145.5. De Soto had 26 and Wauzeka-Steuben had 23. 

Irish of River Ridge won the 100 in 12.28.

State Wrestling Qualifiers

Youth wrestlers earn trip to the State Wrestling Meet

On Saturday, March 21, 23 wrestlers from the Prairie Youth Wrestling Club wrestled at the USA State Qualifier in Westby and Mineral Point.  These sites are two of the eight sites from all over Wisconsin.  To qualify for the State Meet in Madison, a wrestler has to place in the top two of his/her weight class. In addition to the State Qualifiers, six other wrestlers also medaled at the Qualifier, placing third or fourth.

Wauzeka-Steuben Athletic Awards


Several Wauzeka-Steuben varsity basketball players were honored at the end of the season. Senior exchange student Marti Joaquin-Lluis (left) earned the Hornet Award. Jeramiah Huber (second), Jonah Huber (fourth), and Turner Krachey (far right) each earned Ridge and Valley All-Conference Honorable Mention. Hunter Slaght (center) earned the Captain Award.

After a highly successful girls’ basketball season that culminated in a Ridge and Valley Conference title, Wauzeka-Steuben Coach Ben McCullick was honored as the Ridge and Valley Conference Coach of the Year. Seniors Lexi Bird and Kelsey Kapinus were named team captains. Senior Celina Giddings and junior Molly Heisz earned First Team All-Conference, while Kylie Zimmerman was named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Prairie du Chien’s Second Annual Shamrock Shuffle 5k Fun Run-Walk was again a success. The event motivated more than 75 people to begin their St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in a heart-healthy and family-friendly way.

Seneca tops Wauzeka-Steuben

Seneca topped visiting Wauzeka-Steuben 59-40 in a Division 5 Regional boys basketball game Friday night. 

Seneca led 15-11 after the first frame and 28-20 at halftime. 

The Indians out-scored the Hornets 15-11 in the third period and 16-9 in the fourth to pull away for the victory.

Prairie du Chien throttled visiting Richland Center 60-10 in a Division 3 Regional boys basketball game Tuesday night. 

Prairie took the first period 12-2 and led at the half 24-4. 

The Blackhawks out-scored the Hornets 24-3 in the third quarter and 12-3 in the fourth en route to the victory.

The River Ridge girls came from behind in the second half again on Saturday to defeat visiting Highland in a Division 5 Regional final 46-27. 

River Ridge led 7-6 following the first quarter but trailed at the half 15-14. 

River Ridge took the third period 15-4 and the fourth 17-8 to earn the victory.
