Hawks down Dodgers for PdC soccer victory

It was a hot muggy night on the Bluff View soccer pitch Tuesday when the Prairie du Chien boys soccer team hosted the Dodgeville/Mineral Point Dodgers.  

The two teams had just met one week prior with Dodgeville overcoming a 2-0 Prairie lead for the win. Would tonight be a different story, that was the Blackhawk plan.

The Prairie du Chien girls’ golf team hosted their annual Prairie Invitational at the Prairie du Chien Country Club on Friday, Aug. 28. Arcadia, Darlington, G-E-T, Lancaster, Southwestern/Benton/Cuba City, and Westby/Viroqua came to play even though rainy conditions prevailed.

In a complete reversal of last week’s game, Prairie du Chien protected the ball, not turning the ball over, allowing the offense to do its job during a 47-0 thrashing of the Mayville Cardinals.

RR versus W-S volleyball scrimmage

The action was good at the scrimmage Tuesday with both teams starting to round into form as they prepare for the regular season.

Charity Bowl


Bryce Bedward (18), Hardees of Prairie du Chien Owner Dave Bowar and Aaron Neisius (43) serve up some delicious meals at the 2015 Charity Bowl at Prairie du Chien High School Tuesday evening. This is just part of the crowd enjoying a nice, breezy evening and a great meal courtesy of Hardees of Prairie du Chien at the 2015 Charity Bowl Tuesday. Patrons also donated numerous nonperishable food items which will be donated to the Prairie du Chien Food Pantry.

Prairie du Chien team competes in World Bowfishing Tournament


The Prairie du Chien team included Drake Coleman, Ben LaHaie and Aaron LaHaie.

A team of Prairie du Chien bowfishermen competed in the World Bowfishing Tournament held in Prairie du Chien on July 26-27. Cabela’s was a host and the weigh-in was held on their property. 

The tournament took place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. All of the fish that were brought in were taken to a local pig farm as feed. Tournament organizers contact local entities wherever they hold their tournaments and the fish have gone to raptor rehabilitation centers, to organic farms as fertilizer, and more.

45th Annual Run-Walk at Wacouta Aquatic Park Saturday

The 45th Annual Run/Walk was held Saturday, July 18 at Wacouta Aquatic Park under great conditions as 24 runners and walkers participated in this fun event. 

This year’s money raised once again went to Hoffman Hall’s facility improvements.

Prairie du Chien baseball players earn awards


Nine Prairie du Chien baseball players earned All Conference recognition for the 2015 season. They are, front row: Dylan Yeomans - First Team All Conference outfield, Michael Steiner - Honorable Mention, Ryan Garrity - Honorable Mention, Peyton Hall -First Team All Conference infield. Back row: Casey Hogenson - Second Team All Conference infield, Brogan Potter - Second Team All Conference infield, Brandon Check - Second Team All Conference outfield, and Chas Sagedahl - First Team All Conference pitcher. Missing: Brian McNett - Second Team All Conference outfield and Coach of the Year Mark Pedretti. The Blackhawks finished first in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference with a 10-0 record. They were 18-7 overall.

Team award winners included Michael Steiner, Co-Captain; Peyton Hall, MVP; Casey Hogenson, Co-Captain; and Drew Scott, Coaches Award. Missing is Jack Wasechek, Most Improved.
