Seneca tops Wauzeka-Steuben

Seneca topped visiting Wauzeka-Steuben 59-40 in a Division 5 Regional boys basketball game Friday night. 

Seneca led 15-11 after the first frame and 28-20 at halftime. 

The Indians out-scored the Hornets 15-11 in the third period and 16-9 in the fourth to pull away for the victory.

Prairie du Chien throttled visiting Richland Center 60-10 in a Division 3 Regional boys basketball game Tuesday night. 

Prairie took the first period 12-2 and led at the half 24-4. 

The Blackhawks out-scored the Hornets 24-3 in the third quarter and 12-3 in the fourth en route to the victory.

over Highland

The River Ridge girls came from behind in the second half again on Saturday to defeat visiting Highland in a Division 5 Regional final 46-27. 

River Ridge led 7-6 following the first quarter but trailed at the half 15-14. 

River Ridge took the third period 15-4 and the fourth 17-8 to earn the victory.

PdC gymnasts at SWC Meet

The Prairie du Chien gymnastics team competed in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference Meet on Friday night. 

Southwestern-Cuba City won the meet with 133.575 points. Prairie du Chien was fifth with 84.55.

Prairie du Chien will next travel to the Sectional Meet on Feb. 28 in Reedsburg.

Seneca clinches R&V title

Seneca walloped visiting De Soto 70-33 to clinch the Ridge and Valley boys basketball crown Monday night. 

Seneca built a 23-14 lead after the first period and a 36-23 halftime advantage. 

Seneca took the second half 34-10 to breeze to victory.

Prairie du Chien cheerleaders earn first place

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawk Cheerleaders attended the Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School Cheer Competition on Saturday, Feb. 14. The girls competed in two cheer categories: non-stunt and cheer dance. The girls earned a first-place trophy and individual medals in both divisions.

Coach Kelli Saxe stated that the girls performed very well and did a great job entertaining the crowd. She said that she was especially proud that they did so well in the cheer dance category, a division they’ve not had as much success in in years past.

The River Ridge-Cassville wrestling team competed in the Division 3 Lancaster Regional Saturday. River Ridge-Cassville scored 36 points to finish seventh. Fennimore won the meet with 237.

The Lady Timberwolves took the second half 21-16 from the Lady Hornets to gain the home win.

Seneca tops Wauzeka-Steuben

Seneca bested visiting Wauzeka-Steuben 66-43 in a Ridge and Valley boys basketball clash Friday night. 

Seneca led 15-11 in the opening stanza and increased the lead to 31-22 at the half. 

The Indians kept the momentum to take the second half 35-21 en route to the victory.
