Patrice J. Norton

Patrice J. Norton, 67, of Garnavillo, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020. 

She was born March 11, 1952, the daughter of Fred and Marilyn (Boheim) Norton. 

She worked at Advance Transformer and later became a licensed practical nurse for the Mendota Mental Health Institute and Scenic Acres in Elkader, Iowa. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien. Patrice enjoyed the simple things in life including her close-knit group of friends.

Millicent M. 'Millie' Ronnfeldt

Millicent M. “Millie” Ronnfeldt, 94, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Dec. 30, 2019, at Prairie Maison. 

Millie was born in the Township of Eastman on Dec. 30, 1925, to Adolph and Helen (nee Garvey) Ronnfeldt. 

She went to school at the Swatek Ridge School. She worked at National Decorated Metals, Prairie du Chien Schools and Prairie Motel as well as being a caregiver. Millie truly enjoyed playing bingo, putting together puzzles, traveling and attending church dinners. She greatly enjoyed being part of her nieces’ and nephews’ lives and attening family events.

Charles H. Marx

Charles H. Marx, 81, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019, at the Prairie Maison Care Center.

He was born July 5, 1938, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Hubert and Anna (Krachey) Marx. 
Charlie worked at Rexall’s Drug Store in Prairie du Chien, Nugent Dentistry and was a well-known vendor of greeting cards and stationery, which he peddled door-to-door in this community. He also enjoyed mowing, raking, snow shoveling and his work at the Opportunity Center.  

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Michael (Sandy), Dawn (Jeff), Rhonda, Richard, James, David, Randy, Michelle, J.T., Patrick and Elizabeth; his Wauzeka family, Greg, Rhonda, Joe, Xander and Jimmy.

Harold B. Dull, 97, of Soldiers Grove, died peacefully at home on Friday, Dec 27, 2019.

Harold was born on July 3, 1922, in Soldiers Grove, to Earl Edward Dull and Anna Bell (Bailey) Dull. He attended Soldiers Grove grade school and high school and graduated in 1941.

Maureen P. Ronewicz

Maureen P. Ronewicz, 62, of Prairie du Chien, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Dec 23, 2019, at her home following a brief illness.  

She was born Jan 12, 1957, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Joseph and Faye (Johnson) McInerney.  

Maureen took pride as a teacher for the State of Wisconsin at the Prairie du Chien Correctional Institution. She was a career student, a loving sister and was loved especially by a granddaughter Angel Lucas.  

She is survived by her son, Brian Ronewicz; her brother, Michael (Jeanie) McInerney, of Cadillac, Mich.; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary 'Lou' (Weighner) Dretzka

Mary Louise “Lou” (Weighner) Dretzka, 91, formerly of Prairie du Chien, Cudahy and South Milwaukee, passed away at her home in Greenfield. 

She was born in 1928, in Prairie du Chien, to Wilbur and Anna (Zweifel) Weighner. She married Kenneth M. Dretzka, Sr. in 1954, and the two were together until his death in 1998. 

Lou attended Mount Mary and Cardinal Stritch colleges, earning a degree in elementary education. She went on to teach kindergarten in Richland Center, Plymouth and Cudahy and later again at St. Sylvester and APL schools in South Milwaukee. An avid reader, she also loved to play bridge, do jigsaw puzzles, go to rummage sales and antique stores and travel. Lou was a proud member of the Cudahy Historical Society, helping to preserve the historic Cudahy Train Depot.

Carl J. Kasparek

Carl J. Kasparek, 79 of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Crossing Rivers Health.

He was born Oct. 6, 1940, in Wyalusing, the son of Frank and Nina (Clark) Kasparek. 

Carl farmed, worked for the State of Wisconsin for five years, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for 38 years, and retired from the 3M Company after 25 years. He enjoyed gambling, hunting and riding his four-wheeler on his farm in Bagley. He was a member of St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and the Eagles Club Aerie 1502 in Prairie du Chien.

He is survived by his brother Russell Kasparek; his sisters Barbara (Clifford) Stram, Marie Lilo, Shirley Bruckner and Frances (Scott) Gilbert; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie was born on April 8, 1943, in Prairie du Chien, to Joseph George and Agnes Marie (Fritsche) Becwar.

John C. Meyer

John C. Meyer, 68, of Prairie du Chien, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, after sudden complications from pneumonia and lung cancer.

He was born on June 29, 1951, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Carlos “Chip” and Myrna Meyer.
