She was born Feb. 21, 1952 in Richland Center the daughter of Parnell ‘Ned’ and Julia (Schumacher) Walsh. Cathy enjoyed music, dancing and spending time with family.

Jeffrey A. Marx, 48, of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, May 15, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. 

He was born Oct. 3, 1966 in Prairie du Chien the son of James and Judy (Benoy) Marx. Jeff worked as a foreman for Cleary Buildings in Prairie du Chien.

Lt. Col. Leroy E. (Roy) Bunders (USA-Ret)

 

Lt. Col. Leroy E. (Roy) Bunders (USA-Ret) of Poquoson, Va. died May 1, at the VA Hospital in Hampton, Va.

Roy was born Jan. 26, 1931 in Wauzeka to Louise (Schneider) Bunders and Charles Bunders.

Roy was a graduate of Prairie du Chien High School. He enlisted in the Army on Nov. 1, 1948 and while serving in the Korean War, was awarded a battlefield commission as a Second Lieutenant. He earned many medals and citations during his years of military service.

Betty N. Allert, 89, of McGregor, Iowa passed away Wednesday, May 13, at the Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie du Chien. She was born Oct. 1, 1925 in McGregor the daughter of Fred and Jessie (Vaughn) Bachtell. She was married to LaVerne Allert who preceded her in death. Betty worked at the McGregor Pharmacy for over 40 years and was an active member of the McGregor United Methodist Church.

Florence R. Olson, 98, of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, May 5, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. 

She was born Dec. 12, 1916, near Gays Mills on her grandparents, David and Agnes Knoble’s farm. She was the daughter of Walter and Anna (Knoble) Frazier.

Vicki Waterman, 59, of Fennimore, died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning May 5, at Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital. 

Vicki was born on Nov. 18, 1955 in Moline, Ill. the daughter of James and June (DeRammelaere) McBee. She married Jerry Waterman on Aug. 24, 1973 in Boscobel.

Martha M. Stuckey, 94, of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, May 4, at the Crossing Rivers Hospital. 

She was born March 28, 1921 in McGregor, the daughter of Fred and Jessie (Vaughn) Bachtell. She married William McGregor in 1941 who later preceded her in death. She married John Stuckey on Aug. 18, 1946 in Chicago, Ill.. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2004. Martha was a past member of the Eastern Star.

Myra J. Wroble

 

Myra J. Wroble, 89, of rural Harpers Ferry, died Monday, May 4, at Great River Care Center in McGregor. 

Myra Jeanette Wroble was born May 31, 1925, in Auburn, Neb., the daughter of Oscar Andrew and Amy Roberta (Flau) Rogers. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1943, and attended Doane College in Crete, Neb., for two years. On Feb. 13, 1946 she married Robert David Wroble in Kansas. Myra worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C., Montgomery Wards and several hospitals doing office work. She and Robert managed a mobile home park in Marion, Iowa. Myra and Robert moved to the Harpers Ferry, in 1995. She enjoyed playing the organ, gardening and spending time in the outdoors.
