Donald Mark Klatt

Donald Mark Klatt, 90 of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wisc. He was born on December 16, 1932 to Ervin and Claudia (Meunier) Klatt in Milwaukee, Wisc. Donald graduated in 1951 from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee. He proudly joined and served in the United States Navy from May 1952 to May 1956.

Leonard Robert Olson

Leonard Robert Olson, 88, of Seneca, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023, after many years of battling various health issues.
Leonard was born on February 3, 1935, to Tilmon and Minnie Olson at their family farm near Seneca.
Leonard had many hobbies throughout his younger years, and most of them stuck with him for life. He enjoyed roller skating, playing softball, bowling, and camping. In high school he served as the state FFA Vice President. He had an incredible collection of antique tractors that he was passionate about and would compete in antique tractor pulls. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1953.

Shirley Mae (Weis) Murphy

Shirley Mae (Weis) Murphy was born on October 15, 1929 in Dubuque, IA, to Alvin H. and Pauline L. (Koester) Weis. At the age of three, the family moved to Decorah, IA, where she graduated from St. Benedict’s Catholic Grade School and Decorah High School. While in high school, she was elected homecoming queen.
Peach graduated from Clarke College (University) in Dubuque. She spent the next two years teaching English and commercial subjects in Scales Mound, IL and Shellsburg, IA. Peach married Cyril F. Murphy in St. Benedict’s Church in Decorah on September 3, 1955 and for the next two years had numerous jobs while her husband pursued his master’s degree in social work, these included the West Block of the National Harbours Board, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Mick Geyer

Mick Geyer, 81, of Gays Mills, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
Mick was born on January 24, 1942, in Hinsdale, Illinois, to Myrtle Namm and George “Mick” Geyer. He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Geyer of Gays Mills; former wives, Linda Geyer of Texas and Sara Whelton of England; son, Jeff (Laura) Geyer of Texas; daughters, Tina Geyer of Texas and Amanda (Ryan) Magill of Australia; stepdaughter, Cari (Mike) Zeldin of Arizona; grandchildren, Shelby (Clint) Humphrey, Emily Geyer, and Kelley Geyer of Texas, Angelina, Michaela, and Brett Geyer of Texas, and Amelia Magill and Samara Magill of Australia; and great-grandchildren, Maverick Humphrey and Madilynn Humphrey of Texas and Jordan Zeldin of Arizona.

Mitchell ‘Mitch’ Allen Nelson

Mitchell ‘Mitch’ Allen Nelson, Pasadena, CA, passed away on March 22, 2023. Mitch was born on November 5, 1971 to Tom and Cathie Nelson. Growing up in Prairie du Chien, he was active in Cub Scouts and Boys Scouts. He graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in the class of 1990. Mitch was a Cadet of Bergen County of the Drum Corps International that won the World Champions in 1993.
A 1995 graduate from Michigan Tech with a BA in Metallurgical Engineering, Mitch continued his schooling with advanced degrees from UW-Milwaukee and Wichita State.
Mitch authored Born the Author “Bear Feed” and Auggie the Doggie Nelson.

Virginia M. Fortier

Virginia M. Fortier, age 82 of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Marquette, IA on April 26, 1940, the daughter of James and Della (McCarrell) Cook. Virginia moved with her family to Milwaukee where she later met Robert Fortier. Virginia and Robert were married in Milwaukee in 1956. Together, they raised their family in many places across the country as she accompanied her husband in his military service.
Robert preceded her in death in 1994. Virginia worked as a nurse’s aide at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien and Great River Care Center in McGregor, IA until retirement. She loved caring for others, especially the children she looked after later in life. Virginia was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in McGregor, IA and was the first women to serve as president there. She was also an advocate for individuals with disabilities.

Jodi L. Fischer

Jodi L. Fischer, age 59 of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Bagley, WI on December 11, 1963, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Suck) Meng. Her family then moved to Jefferson, Wisc. where she graduated high school with the class of 1982. After graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Madison, Wisc. before going to work in Janesville.

Budd Edwin Bunders

Budd Edwin Bunders, 75, of Steuben, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He was born August 23, 1947 to Edwin and Flora (Bruckner) Bunders in Millville, Wisconsin. Budd attended West Grant Schools. He proudly served during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps from June 21, 1966 to June 11, 1968.
Budd loved the outdoors. He was a logger most of his life. He also enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing. He liked to pick berries and hunt morels. He was a keeper of at least three gardens. Budd also enjoyed attending many of his grandchildren’s sporting events. And never passed up the chance for a card game.

Isabel D. Wall, age 95 of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. She was born on April 18, 1927, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Heisz) Duha and was raised on the farm on Duha Ridge. She attended a teacher’s college in Platteville, Wisc. before going to teach school for several years.
Isabel married August Wall on May 25, 1949, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman. Together they raised their nine children on the family farm on Wall Ridge. August preceded her in death in 1973.
Isabel was always active in 4H and served as club leader for St. Wenceslaus and Wall Ridge. She enjoyed gardening, a good game of cards and playing with her grandchildren.
