Pauline K. McNett

 

Pauline K. McNett, 84, of Cuba City, died Thursday, Sept. 10, at Manor Care in Platteville. 

Pauline was born on Oct. 5, 1930, in Darlington, the daughter of Romano and Evelyn (Komprood) Luciani. She married Richard “Dick” McNett on Jan. 29, 1953, at the United Methodist Church in Cuba City. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2003. Pauline farmed with Dick and worked at Advance Transformer until 1973. She then worked at Sentry Foods.

Doris was born to Lorene Andrea (Hutson) and Floyd Wheaton Huggett, June 1, 1941.

Elaine R. Shedivy, 58, of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, at Orchard Manor in Lancaster. 

She was born Feb. 16, 1957 with her twin brother Eli, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Mezera) Shedivy. Elaine was a lifetime member of St. Gabriel’s Parish and belonged to the Catholic Knights. She enjoyed greeting everyone who would pass her home on north Beaumont Road from her front porch.

Michael K. Thompson, 80, of Prairie du Chien passed awy Thursday, Aug. 27, at his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born April 20, 1935 in Ann Arbor, Mich. the son of John and Fern (Bourassa) Thompson. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Balk on June 9, 1960 in Phoenix, Ariz. Mike worked as a barber and later became a plumber. He held other various jobs until his retirement in 1997.

Roger B. Helgerson Sr

 

Roger B. Helgerson Sr., 79, of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, at his home. 

He was born Dec. 5, 1935 in Westby, the son of Otto and Della (DeWitt) Helgerson. After his graduation from high school Roger entered the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War before retiring from service. He also farmed near Brodtville.

Evelyn C. Oliver

 

Evelyn C. Oliver, 93, of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Atrium Care Center in Lancaster. 

She was born Nov. 24, 1921 in Vernon County, the daughter of Edward and Virginia (Taylor) Sletten. She married Merlin Oliver on Feb. 27, 1943 in Waukon, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1987. Together they farmed tobacco in the Bad Axe River Valley. Evelyn was an active member of the Bad Axe Lutheran Church.

Patrica A. Smith

 

Patrica A. Smith, 72, of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, at her residence in Prairie du Chien. 

Pat was born Feb. 23, 1943, in Lancaster, the daughter of Harley and Esther (Brandemuehl) Foster. On April 2, 1977, she married Dr. Clifford Smith. Together they spent many years raising Appaloosa horses in rural Prairie du Chien. Clifford preceded her in death on May 11, 2010. In later years, she enjoyed planting flowers, watching the birds and other wildlife that visited her home. Pat also enjoyed scrapbooking, card stamping, relaxing in the pool, and camping parties with her family at her home.

David L. Swiggum

 

David L. Swiggum, 72, passed away Aug. 22, in Murfreesboro, Tenn. 

He was born Nov. 6, 1942 in Viroqua, to Rudolph and Mamie Swiggum. He graduated from Gays Mills High School in 1961 and joined the Navy where he served as a Portuguese interpreter. His tours of duty took him to South America and Africa. Health issues forced him out of the Navy and he lived in the La Crosse area most of the next 35 years. For the last 11 years, he was cared for by the Murfreesboro VA and Jake’s Assisted Living in Murfreesboro.
