Margaret Mary Kramer

 

Margaret Mary Kramer, passed away at Cokato Manor on April 15, at the age of 89 years, seven months and 21 days.

Margaret was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Prairie du Chien, to John and Gertrude (Gokey) Fernette. She grew up in Prairie du Chien, where she graduated from high school in 1944. After high school, she went to Milwaukee and took a job at Allis Chalmers.

Evelyn B. Seeley

 

Evelyn B. Seeley died Feb. 26, after an extended illness. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Foursquare Church in Prairie du Chien. Luncheon will be held after the service, followed by interment at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor, IA

Bernard E. Boylen

 

Bernard E. Boylen, 86, of Eastman passed away Monday, April 25, at the Prairie Maison Care Center. 

He was born May 10, 1929 in Wauzeka, the son of Albert and Rosa (Elliott) Boylen. He married Elizabeth O’Shaughnessy on May 12, 1955 at St. Patrick’s Church in Seneca. Together they farmed on DuCharme Ridge near Eastman most of their lives. Betty Sue preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 1994. Bernie loved farming, dancing and especially playing ball.

Shirley A. Moore

 

Shirley A. Moore, 85, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 20 surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren. She fought a long battle with COPD/Emphysema.

She was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of William and Aurelia (Stram) Reuber. Shirley graduated from Prairie High in 1948 and entered the Air Force in 1949. She met Robert Moore in basic training and they married at Scott Field AFB in 1950. After 28 years in the Air Force and many overseas and stateside assignments, they retired and later moved to San Antonio.

Douglas August Dahlin Jr.

 

Douglas August Dahlin Jr., 80, of Soldiers Grove, died April 20, at Sannes Skogdalen, in Soldiers Grove. 

Douglas was born July 7, 1935 to Douglas, Sr. and Grace (Bolman) Dahlin in Max, N. D. He graduated from high school in Max, N. D. and the University of North Dakota at Minot where he earned his degree in business and finance.

Douglas was united in marriage with Arlene Bredahl in 1960. They later divorced. In 1987 he was united in marriage with Lois Ahrens in Prairie du Chien.

John Raymond Koresh

 

John Raymond Koresh, 68, of Elkader, died suddenly Saturday, April 16, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. 

John was born on April 4, 1948, to John and Arlene (Stagman) Koresh in Prairie du Chien. He graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1967. John worked for 3M in Prairie du Chien for 34 years, he retired in 2002. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, camping, fishing, hunting and watching westerns. Most of all, John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Jo Ann Hermsen

 

Jo Ann Hermsen, 64, of Woodstock, Ga., passed away Thursday, April 14, in Woodstock. 

She was born April 16, 1951 in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Ivan and Gloria Schmidt. She married Philip Hermsen on Dec. 16, 1972 at St. John’s church in Patch Grove. She was a member of the Auburn Civitan Club, a non-profit organization that works with children with disabilities, in Auburn, Ala. for many years where she also served as treasurer during that time. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Auburn. In her spare time, she enjoyed working on home projects, re-modeling homes, and helping others.

James Leland De Long, 71, of Trempealeau, and formerly of Stoddard, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. 

Jim was born in Allamakee County, Iowa on July 20, 1944 to Leland and Theadora (Ferring) De Long. He was joined in marriage to Linda Kastroll on May 25, 1968, at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, Calif.

Edward Prew

 

Edward Prew, 72, of McGregor, Iowa passed away Tuesday, April 12, at the Prairie Maison Care Center. 

He was born July 1, 1943 in Eastman, the son of Paul and Laurayne (Phillip) Prew. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War in bridge construction and as a demolition expert. He married Christine Preston on Feb. 24, 1968 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. He worked for Stark’s Sport Shop and built silos with Jones Construction. Ed later farmed in the Prairie du Chien area. Chris and Ed then owned and operated a cleaning service in Prairie du Chien for several years. Chris preceded him in death on Sept. 10, 2015.
