Lois M. Harwood

Lois M. Harwood, age 98 of Prairie du Chien, Wisc. passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at Bluff Haven in Prairie du Chien. She was born in Prairie du Chien on January 22, 1925, to Raymond A. and Mary (Gokey) Coorough. She attended grade school at St. Gabriel’s and graduated from B.A. Kennedy High School, both in Prairie du Chien.

Donald Clare Iverson

Donald Clare Iverson, a beloved Father, friend, and businessman left this world on May 25, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched. Donald was born on May 20, 1936, in Soldiers Grove, Wisc. to Minnie and John Iverson. He received his early education at the public schools in Soldiers Grove, where he especially excelled at math. Following his graduation, Donald’s pursuit of knowledge led him to the Wisconsin Institute of Technology-Platteville. In 1958, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering. During school he worked at the family businesses–farms in Soldiers Grove as well as two bowling alleys in Madison, Wisc.

Robert G. “Bob” Schneider

Robert G. “Bob” Schneider, age 81 of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Prairie du Chien, Wisc. on January 10, 1942. He met the love of his life, Linda Welsch and they were married in 1963 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Together, they moved to Janesville, Wisc, where they would raise their three children. Bob worked at General Motors in Janesville for 35 years until retirement. After retirement, he and his wife Linda moved back to Prairie du Chien where they enjoyed being close to their children and grandchildren.

Michael “Mudhen” Donovan Day

Michael “Mudhen” Donovan Day, a nearly lifelong resident of Prairie du Chien, Wisc., peacefully transitioned into eternal life on May 27, 2023, just before the new dawn listening to “You Raise Me Up”. He was lifted up with love surrounded by family throughout his transition. Mike was born March 3, 1956, to Niles “Buck” Day and Norma (Gentes) Day. He graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1974 and went on to commercial fish the mighty Mississippi River and various Wisconsin lakes for a number of years and became a Crew Leader at 3M for many years.

Joan M. Christ

Joan M. Christ, age 82 of Prairie du Chien passed away from colon cancer on Friday May 19, 2023, in her home with her two daughters by her side. She was born June 26, 1940, in Lancaster, Wisc., the daughter of Carl and Laura (Louthain) Williams. She married Charles Christ on October 6, 1960, in Cas Grande, AZ. Charles preceded in death on February 12, 2007.
 Joan was a member of the Prairie du Chien United Methodist Church. She loved to fish and spend time in her flower gardens. She also enjoyed crafting and traveling with her daughters. Most of all, she loved her dog, Murphy.

Thomas George Wolcott

Thomas George Wolcott, age 69, died Monday, May 15, 2023 at Benedictine Manor in La Crosse, Wisc.
Tom was born on September 16, 1953 to Glenn and Mildred (Eggleston) Wolcott at the former Beaumont Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisc. Tom worked at the turkey plant in Postville, Iowa, Prairie Tool Company in Prairie du Chien, and last as a paper delivery man for Shopping News in Prairie du Chien. Tom was always tinkering with something. He enjoyed spending time with his children as much as he could and enjoyed visiting with family. He also loved talking on his CB radio and his handle was “Country Boy”. He really enjoyed country music. He was also an avid Chevy fan.

Anne E. Mezera

Anne E. Mezera, age 86 of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Garden View Place in Monona. She was born July 26, 1936, the daughter of Anthony and Grace (Wall) Mezera. Anne grew up on Irish Ridge Road and would eventually teach in the one room schoolhouse there before going to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. There, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in education and continued to teach elementary school in Rockford, IL. Anne then moved closer to home to help care for her parents and further taught in the MFL Mar-Mac school district until retirement.

Samuel David Pellock

Samuel David Pellock, 32 of Prairie du Chien passed away on May 8th, 2023, peacefully in his home.  He was born August 9th, 1990, the son of Steve and Amy Pellock.  Upon graduation from Prairie High School, he worked as a union operating engineer for various firms in Iowa and Wisconsin running heavy equipment.  Sam loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, and collecting sheds.  His close friends and family were the focal point of his life.  His generosity to others was unmatched, always willing to help a friend in need.  He was also an excellent carpenter when he worked with his grandfather building many pieces of fine furniture.
