Mary J. Wilkinson

 

Mary J. Wilkinson, 78, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, at her home in Prairie du Chien. 

Mary Janet, the daughter of Edgar and Lazora (Kies) Moore, was born Dec. 6, 1937. Mary was raised on a farm near Mt. Hope, with her parents, her sister, Ardell Dressler, two special uncles, and a special aunt. She attended the Brunson Country School and graduated at thirteen years of age with one classmate. From there she attended Patch Grove High School, graduating in 1954. Mary then graduated from the Milwaukee Business Institute. She worked part time for Attorney Melvin Bonns of Bloomington.

Mr. William Aaron Hazen, 62, of Lobelville, Tenn. passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, at home. 

Mr. Hazen was a support manager for Walmart in Waverly and an avid deer hunter and Green Bay Packers fan.

Catherine A. Quick

 

Catherine A. Quick passed away on Feb. 7, after prolonged illnesses. 

She was born on Jan. 8, 1937 to Carl and Helen (Harris) Stagman in Brodtville, Wis. She grew up in Brodtville and graduated as the valedictorian from Bagley High School in 1955. After high school she worked at a dime store in Dubuque and at the telephone office in Prairie du Chien. In later years she worked for Swiss Colony as order taker and customer service representative for 16 seasons.

Arlene Mary (Laufenberg) Stoeffler

 

Arlene Mary (Laufenberg) Stoeffler, 91, of Mount Hope, passed away peacefully with family by her side Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Good Samaritan Center in Fennimore, where she had resided for nearly two years.

Through her life as a big sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Arlene always put her family and faith first. Even to her final days, she worried about missing sending a card for a birthday or anniversary, and tried to finish crocheting an afghan for a graduating grandson—continuing a tradition her mother had started many years before.

Charles “Chuck” Evans Trotter

 

 Charles “Chuck” Evans Trotter, 73, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa passed away peacefully with his wife by his side and his family in his heart on Feb. 2, in Prairie du Chien. 

Chuck was born Jan. 30, 1943 to Clyde and Nina (Brynildson) Trotter in Chicago, Ill. At an early age, the Trotter family moved from Chicago to Maynard, Iowa to work the family farm. After graduating from West Central High School in 1961, he joined the United States Navy where he served on the USS Littlerock until he was honorably discharged in August 1965.

Gerald P. “Jerry” Mezera

 

Gerald P. “Jerry” Mezera, 73, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 31, at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness.

He was born April 1, 1942 in Prairie du Chien, the son of Clarence and Ruth (Fritsche) Mezera. Jerry was a dedicated father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything else. He was a devoted son, working beside his parents and caring for them. A hard working dairy farmer, he spent his entire life on the family farm. Any spare time he had, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, more often than not with one or more grandchildren by his side.

Holly Eve Keyl-Jones

 

After almost a three year battle with lung cancer, our Lord and Savior decided the fight went on long enough and called our Holly home to be with Him. On Jan. 22, Holly Eve Keyl-Jones, 49, Capron, Ill. slipped away peacefully with her family by her side.

Born in Elgin, Ill. Dec. 26, 1966 to Richard and Janet Jones, Patch Grove, Holly was blessed to have Jan rarely leave her side.

Connie M. Sanderson

 

Connie M. Sanderson, 68, passed away on Jan. 27, in Lansing, Iowa. 

Connie was born Sept. 30, 1947 in Madison. She graduated in 1969 from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and married Harlan on June 21 that same year. She taught French and English, including literature, composition and creative writing classes, for 27 years at South Winneshiek High School in Calmar, Iowa, before retiring with her husband in the countryside by the Mississippi River near Lynxville.
