Robert W. “Bob” Granzow

Robert W. “Bob” Granzow age 89 of Eastman, Wisc. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, January 30, 2023. He was born July 18, 1933, the son of Charles and Bernice (George) Granzow. Bob served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Marilyn Hathaway on May 15, 1955. She preceded him in death on October 6, 1961. He later married Leota Hollenberger on June 23, 1962. Leota also preceded Bob in death on February 27, 2018. Bob farmed most of his life in the Eastman area and served as the Eastman Village President for many years.

Teresa Sue Krueger, 60 of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday January 25, 2023 at Divine Rehab and Nursing in Fennimore, Wisconsin. She was born to Linda and Albert Schilter in Lancaster, Wisconsin. When Teresa was younger, she had many fond memories of spending most of her time with her Grandma.

Evelyn M. Crowley

Evelyn M. Crowley, 80, of Prairie du Chien, WI, formerly of Steuben, WI passed away peacefully Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse, WI surrounded by her children. Evelyn was born on March 9, 1942, in Prairie du Chien, to Ivan and Helen (Ford) DuCharme. She graduated from Seneca High School in 1960. Following high school, she worked at Johnson’s One Stop in Seneca. Evelyn married Patrick Crowley on May 13, 1962, in Seneca, WI. Over the course of their marriage, they were blessed with seven children. Together, until Patrick’s passing, on December 23, 1977, they raised their family in Steuben.

Carol Ann (Reisner) Ladeburg

Carol Ann (Reisner) Ladeburg, age 80 of Prairie Du Chien, WI, formerly of Oelwein, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
She was born on June 30, 1942 in Oelwein, the daughter of Eugene Warren and Dorothy (Heid) Reisner. She grew up in Oelwein and graduated from Sacred Heart School. Later she graduated from Mercy College in Cedar Rapids.
Carol married Arthur Ladeburg on June 3, 1962. In this marriage they welcomed three children. Tim, Deborah and Damien.
Carol was employed by Mercy Hospital Oelwein in the pediatric unit, then she worked at Amoco Foam, also known as Gulf States & Triangle Plastics in Oelwein. She was also a receptionist at Goodwill in Oelwein and later in the Goodwill Retail Store until she retired.
Carol and Art moved to Prairie Du Chien in 2015 where they enjoyed spending time at their cabin on the Ambrough.

Mattie Clara (Woods) Rademacher

Our very own “Chatty Mattie”, Mattie Clara (Woods) Rademacher, age 79 of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin died peacefully at home on Sunday, January 15, 2023 in Prairie du Chien. Her parents Letcher and Clara (Shepherd) Woods celebrated her birth at home in New London, Pennsylvania on June 10, 1943. After graduating from high school in Pennsylvania, she went on to attend school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to become an administrative assistant, where she met the love of her life, Roger Rademacher. They were married on June 11, 1966, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, IA.
Thankfully, Mattie didn’t believe silence was golden, because she, along with her husband “Rambling Rog”, lovingly raised four children in a bustling household.

George Steven Walters, 66, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin died Monday, January 23, 2023 at his home in Prairie du Chien, Wisc. He was born on December 28, 1956 to George and Lorraine (LaMere) Walters in St. Joseph, Missouri. George graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1976.
On August 23, 2003, George was united in marriage with Jan Mulrooney. Throughout the years, George worked at MPC and Prairie Industries. He retired in January 2022. George enjoyed fishing, camping, deer hunting and being outdoors. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Susan Marie Helen (Johll) Walz

Susan Marie Helen (Johll) Walz was born on June 29, 1951, in Prairie du Chien as one of six children to Alfred and Audrey (Brookens) Johll. She passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2023, following a lengthy illness. Susan grew up in Bridgeport, WI and attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic School until 8th grade. This laid the foundation for her Catholic faith, and she remained a devout Catholic her whole life. She graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in May of 1969 and married Robert Walz on August 2nd of the same year. Together they raised their 11 children on the farm in rural Wauzeka. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She spent her life serving others; to know her was to love her. She enjoyed taking the grandchildren to Jellystone in Warrens. She started a family camping tradition that is still a family favorite! Susan loved campfires and jumped at the chance to sit by a campfire all night. She loved spending time with her family.

Ethel A. Sebastian

Ethel A. Sebastian, age 95 of Prairie du Chien passed away peacefully Monday, January 16, 2023, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. She was born in Eastman, Wisc. on September 6, 1927, the sixth child of Edward and Anna (Mara) Slama. Ethel only went to school through the eighth grade but earned her GED many years later. Ethel married Robert Sebastian on September 6, 1947, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, WI. Together they raised their family in the Prairie du Chien and owned and operated the Fort Crawford Hotel in downtown Prairie du Chien for 17 years. Ethel also worked at the Courier Press for many years until her retirement in her mid-70’s. Ethel enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, crafts, cooking, and began reading voraciously during the last decade of her life.

Erma Martha (Geisler) Williamson

It is with great sadness that Erma Martha (Geisler) Williamson, 105, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Erma was born November 22, 1917 on her parent’s Dutch Ridge farm Wauzeka, Wisc., Crawford County, to Leo Andrew Geisler and Rose Mary (Cumiskey) Geisler. Early in Erma’s life she recalled not having electricity only kerosene lamps, no radio or TV, carrying water from the spring for drinking, and her father using a team of horses for the farm work. She attended the Dutch Ridge Country School and later Prairie du Chien High School graduating from Rockford, IA High School. Prior to graduating high school her parents built a meat market/butcher shop in Prairie du Chien. When the day came to move from the farm to Prairie du Chien, they used the team of horses and a sled. They would stop at various farm homes along the way to get warm.

Roger Head

Roger Head, age 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 5, 2023. He was born in Seneca, WI on June 2, 1946 to the late Martin and Emma (Hutter) Head. Roger was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jeanette Prew on June 24, 1967 in Eastman, WI.
Roger graduated from Seneca High School in 1965. Roger and Jeanette moved to Madison and began a life together raising their two sons, Douglas and Daniel. He worked for the University of Wisconsin, Madison within the Physical Plant Department as a U.S. Mail Distributor for 35 years until retirement in January, 2002. In 1969, he also began working part-time with Frautschi Funeral Service and continued with Cress Funeral and Cremation Service as Facility Manager until just recently.
