Bernard L. Sutton, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 16, at his home in Colorado Springs, Colo.

 

He was born Oct. 6, 1935, in Seneca, the eldest child of LaVern and Albena Sutton. Bernard graduated from B.A. Kennedy High School in 1954 and soon after joined the U.S. Air Force.

Leland A. Rutter, 81, of Janesville, passed away on Monday, Oct. 23, at Mercy Hospital. 

 

Leland was born on Feb. 13, 1936. He married Betty Ward on June 8, 1962. He retired from General Motors.

Bertha (Becky) Jones

Bertha (Becky) Jones, 90, of McGregor, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Great River Care Center, McGregor. 

Bertha Mae was born on Sept. 9, 1927, to James and Sylvia (Barnhart) Harry in Osterdock. She attended country school.

 

Bertha was united in marriage with Harley C. Jones in 1943. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary. What made her smile were friends, family, hugs and sharing Christ. She enjoyed music, dancing, outdoors, fishing, hunting and family getting together playing cards and jenga.

Mary A. Gillitzer

Mary A. Gillitzer, 92, of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 25, surrounded by her family.

She was born Dec. 31, 1924, in Wauzeka, daughter of John and Kathryn (McCarthy) Lathrop. She married Eugene Gillitzer on Sept. 7, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wauzeka. Together they raised eight children. Mary’s greatest joys in life were caring for and spending time with her family and friends.

Eugene and Mary farmed in the Seneca area where they had a dairy farm. Mary was a hardworking partner in the farm operation, helping to care for livestock, raising a garden and canning or freezing the abundant produce. After selling the farm, Mary worked at Advance Transformer, retiring in 1989. Mary had a special devotion to her faith and praying the rosary.

Mark was born Oct. 11, 1961, to Myron and Judy Marie (Spenler) Abildtrup in Des Moines. He graduated from Mar-Mac High School in 1980.

He was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, the son of Leo and Florence (Heim) Johnston. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force.

Eileen Agnes was born on April 7, 1931, to Lester and Ronilla (Schoulte) Connor in Elkader. She attended Country School, St. Joseph Catholic School, Elkader High School, and graduated from Monona High School in 1948.
