Diana L. Burnett

Diana L. Burnett (Janutolo, Hazen), 67, of Sun Prairie, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Agrace Hospice Care. 

She was born on Dec. 13, 1951, in Boscobel, the daughter of Dan and Annabelle (Winkers) Hazen. 

Diana graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1968, and UW-La Crosse in 1972. She married Bruce Burnett on Sept. 23, 1995, in Sun Prairie. Diana was a longtime Dane County employee as an IT security officer after years of IT employment with three State of Wisconsin agencies. Her interests included Barbie doll collecting, cruising and sci-fi/fantasy writing. Her first book is in the Sun Prairie Library. Diana was a member of Broad Universe, Independent Book Publishers Association, and several writing groups close to her heart.

James D. 'Jim' Gorman

James D. “Jim” Gorman, 79, of Wauzeka passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. 

He was born Jan. 24, 1940, in Alexandria, Ohio, the son of F.M. and Betty (Grandstaff) Gorman. 

He married Jacqueline (Boruch) Bergeron on April 17, 1999, at The Center in Palos Park, Ill. 

Jim worked as a sales manager of construction equipment for Komatsu International for 47 years until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wauzeka serving as council president. Jim was also involved in the revitalization of the Lower Wisconsin River Genealogical and Historical Society.

Norma J. Sokolik

Norma J. Sokolik, 64, of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. 

She was born Nov. 5, 1954, to Richard and Pearl (Warren) Torgerson in La Crosse, the youngest of 11 children. 

Norma graduated from Holmen High School. She was united in marriage with Robert W. Sokolik on Oct. 17, 1992, in LaCrosse. Norma worked for Lori Knapp in Prairie du Chien for over 20 years. She liked to travel, sew and do puzzles. 

Norma is survived by her husband, Robert, of Prairie du Chien. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mathew R. Torgerson; and five siblings.

Nicole L. 'Nikki' Arms

Nicole L. “Nikki” Arms, 36, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse,  following a courageous battle with cancer.  

She was born Aug. 30, 1982, in Corning, Iowa, the daughter of David and Kris (Keller) Arms. Nikki was a 2000 graduate of Boscobel High School and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.  She was most recently the manager of the Shoe Department in Prairie du Chien.  Nikki was vibrant and outgoing. She loved the outdoors, hiking and animals, but most of all spending time with family. She was an advocate of Young Living.

Norma M. Thiede

Norma M. Thiede, 84, of Prairie du Chien, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Prairie Maison Care Center.  

She was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Seneca, the daughter of Edward and Pauline (Simonson) Mansfield.  

She married Roger Thiede on Oct. 25, 1952, in Prairie du Chien.  He preceded her in death on April 27, 2010. 

Norma enjoyed cooking, baking, collecting antiques, rummage sales and embroidery. 

She is survived by her children, Eric, Gene and Mona Thiede, all of Prairie du Chien, and Sharon (Randy) Addison of Potosi; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was born Sept. 28, 1954, to Calvin and Marion (Pauley)Ohlhauser in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Elwin A. Hull

Elwin A. Hull, 67, of Lynxville, passed away Friday, April 26, 2019, at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice in Viroqua. 

He was born Sept. 30, 1951 in Milwaukee, the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Felton) Hull. 

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in VietNam. Elwin married Sandra Boelter on July 27, 1970, in San Clemente, Calif. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for most of his life. El enjoyed hunting, fishing and a drinking brandy.

Jeffrey 'Jeff' Liethen

Jeffrey “Jeff” Liethen passed away peacefully from cancer on Thursday, April 25, 2019, in his home surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of his life with full military honors will take place on Friday, May 17, from 1 to 3 p.m., in the Prairie Room, at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St., Onalaska. Larry J. Johanningmeier

Larry J. Johanningmeier, 68 of Harpers Ferry passed away Wednesday, April 24, at his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born Dec. 5, 1950, the son of Don and Shirley (Standorf) Johanningmeier. 

Larry graduated from MFL Community High School in 1969. He served in the US Army during the Viet Nam era at Fort Lewis, Wash. He married Bobbi Schissel on May 20, 1983, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in McGregor, Iowa. Larry worked as an over the road truck driver for 30 years with David Kurk Trucking, Rowley Interstate and most recently Dillman Equipment. He also worked in construction with Gingerich Construction and built his own home 32 years ago. He enjoyed cars, guns, hunting, fishing and woodwork.
