Mary Lou Jensen

 

Mary Lou Jensen, 75, passed away peacefully, Feb. 25, at the Great River Care Center, McGregor. 

Mary Lou Jensen was born Sept. 16, 1939, in West Branch, to Parvin Jensen and Mabel (Christensen) Jensen. In 1946, she moved with the family to Cedar Rapids. In 1972 she moved to Cherokee Village, Ark. with her parents and in 1989 they moved to Marion. Upon the death of her mother in 2002, Mary Lou became a resident of Great River Care Center in McGregor.

Lillian Esther Fritz

 

Lillian Esther Fritz died on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa. 

She was born March 21, 1918 in Marquette, Iowa to Carl and Ethel (Winegar) Zahn. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1937. Lillian was united in marriage with Donald L. Fritz on Dec. 10, 1939, from this union one daughter was born, Bonnie Lynn (Smith) on Oct. 11, 1942.

John Henry Lang

 

John Henry Lang, 77, of McGregor, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 1, at his home in McGregor, Iowa. 

He was born Sept. 17, 1937 in McGregor, to Ernie and Isabel (Coffman) Lang. John graduated from Mar-Mac High School, McGregor, Iowa in 1956. He was united in marriage to Janann Hallberg on May 3, 1958 at Swede Ridge Lutheran Church in McGregor, Iowa.

Dawn Dummermuth Slyfield

 

On Feb. 1, at the youthful age of 85, Dawn Dummermuth Slyfield of McGregor, Iowa, went to be with the Lord, and her previously departed husband Jack Slyfield. 

Dawn passed away while in Hospice care at Silverado Memory Care Community in The Woodlands, Texas. Dawn worked endless years as a speech therapist. She enjoyed playing tennis throughout most of her life, even competing in the Senior Olympics many times in her later years.  

Dawn is survived by her son Skip; daughter Shannon; and son-in-law Michael Silvestre.

Martha Lynn “Princess” Sauer

 

Martha Lynn “Princess” Sauer, 53, died on Monday, Jan. 26, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. 

Martha was born Oct. 31, 1961 to Charles and Ivanelle (Corlett) Sauer in McGregor, Iowa. Martha graduated from Mar-Mac High School, McGregor, Iowa in 1980. After graduation she traveled all over the United States and Germany, making friends far and wide. Martha worked at The Isle of Capri in Marquette, Iowa for many years and most recently was employed at Greene in Monona, Iowa.

Arlene Myrtle Erb, 97, McGregor, died Sunday, Jan. 18, in McGregor. 

She was born Nov. 17, 1917 to Joseph and Borghild (Olson) Larson in Clermont, Iowa. She was baptized on Jan. 13, 1918 and confirmed at East Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa. Arlene graduated from Postville High School in 1936.

Morgan Alonzo Loper

 

Morgan Alonzo Loper, 86, of McGregor, died Saturday, Jan. 10, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. 

He was born on May 8, 1928 to William and Ethel (Cooper) Loper in Dubuque, Iowa. He attended country school in Dubuque. Morgan was united in marriage with Marilyn Adney on Aug. 19, 1949. They enjoyed 65 happy years together. He worked construction in his younger years and was the head mechanic specializing in alignments at Huinker Chevrolet in Monona for 25 years. At one time he was the state inspector for car alignments. Morgan enjoyed tinkering with broken things, camping, fishing, hunting, Saturday evening dinners with friends and family and taking rides to Dairy Queen and having a milk shake.
