Casino Queen Marquette will be renamed Bally’s Marquette as part of its highly anticipated move to a newly developed permanent landside facility, set to open in early 2026. The name change will coincide with a comprehensive $21 million transformation project, which includes relocating the gaming floor ashore and introducing new dining, gaming and entertainment experiences.

Four MFL MarMac softball players have earned Upper Iowa all-conference honors. Emme Wikner was a unanimous first team selection, while Kacie Picha was named to the second team and Garnett Niedziejko and Autumn Shaw were honorable mention picks.

The Upper Iowa all-conference baseball roster was loaded with MFL MarMac Bulldogs, as all seven of the team’s seniors were recognized. Parker Kuehl, Ben Krambeer and Jacob Schellhorn were first team selections and Brayden Gordon and Jaxon Millage made the second team. Kade Humble and Jaron Wille were honorable mention picks.

Eileen (Sue) Szablewski

Eileen (Sue) Szablewski, also affectionately known as “Wizzy,” passed away July 13, 2025, at the age of 90, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Sue was a long-time resident of New Berlin, Wis., and Marquette, Iowa. She was a loving mother of Sue (Jerry) Matzelle, Kathy Markley, Paul (Diane) Szablewski, Holly Szablewski and Wendy Helland.
