DroneXperts of Elkader receives Main Street Iowa’s ‘Open 4 Business’ grant


Mark Collins, owner of DroneXperts, and Maggie Sommers (right), Elkader Main Street Director, attended the 2025 Downtown Conference in Muscatine on Aug. 4. DroneXperts applied for the Open 4 Business grant through Main Street Iowa and the Economic Development Authority. They received $20,000—$5,000 for being selected as a finalist and $15,000 for placing third.

Public outcry postpones roadwork that would have unexpectedly closed Highway 76


Concerns from residents, business owners and community leaders last week convinced the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) to postpone repairs to the approach on the bridge over Bloody Run Creek, just north of Anti-Monopoly Street in Marquette.
