MFL MarMac dancers audition for All-Iowa Honor Team

Dancers from the MFL MarMac Bulldog dance team attended the All-Iowa Honor Dance Team auditions at Berg Middle School in Newton on Aug. 23. Over 500 dancers from 110 high schools across Iowa auditioned. Dancers (from left to right) are Madison Eilers, Kiarra Young, Madison O’Connell, Mariah Moser and Lauryn Johnson.

Banged up Bulldogs fall to Crestwood

MFL MarMac freshman Tyce Wikner saw considerable time on the field in the Aug. 29 season opener. Offensively, he carried the ball eight times for 29 yards, then was one of the leading tacklers, with 4.5.

Quarterback Eli Hanson led MFL MarMac with 71 rushing yards on a team-high 12 carries. He also scored a touchdown.

Joyce E. Novey

Joyce Eileen (Chappell) Novey, age 84, of La Crosse, Wis., passed away on Aug. 28, 2025.  Joyce was born in Oelwein on May 29, 1941, to George and Ruth (Kamoss) Chappell. Her family resided in various locations in Iowa during her childhood years: Strawberry Point, Randall, Littleport and McGregor.
