MFL MarMac boys repeat as UIC track and field champions

Kathryn M. Starkey

Kathryn Marie Starkey, 88, of Marquette/McGregor, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Great River Care Center in McGregor. Kathryn was born the eldest child and only daughter to Johanna Kathryn (Hartke) and Irvin Louis Becker on April 26, 1937, at home in Giard. She was baptized in 1937 at the United Methodist Church in Giard. Growing up on a farm, she was an avid cat-lover.

Time to paw-ty: Monona Dog Park ready to open


Once signage goes up, the city of Monona anticipates the dog park will open this week. The dog park is located along Bulldog Boulevard, next to the Monona Family Aquatic Center, and includes separate areas for large and small dogs. Improvements will beautify, connect McGregor parks


McGregor’s Artesian Park is temporarily closed while a series of improvements get underway. Plans include new decorative ornamental fence in place of the existing chain link fence, new ornamental park benches and picnic tables and landscape improvements. Broken concrete in the park’s interior has been removed. (Photos by Audrey Posten)

Among the park projects is connecting Artesian Park to Pocket Park, behind the McGregor Public Library, by going over the storm sewer.
