DNR called upon to restore full-time park ranger to Yellow River State Forest


A petition is calling on the Iowa DNR to restore a park ranger to full-time status at Yellow River State Forest near Harpers Ferry. Elaine K. Syverson

Elaine Kathryn Syverson, 97, of Elkader, died Monday, May 4, 2020, at MercyOne Medical Center in Elkader. Elaine was born Sept. 22, 1922, to Archie and Elsie (Roeder) Martin in Clayton County. She graduated from Elkader High School and attended Elkader Junior College. She proudly joined and served in the United States Marines Women’s Reserve from July 15, 1943 to Aug. 22, 1946, being honorably discharged at the rank of technical sergeant.

Duane C. Tieden

Duane Charles Tieden, the son of Raymond and Mildred (Gottschalk) Tieden, was born May 26, 1931, on the family farm in Clayton County, and died July 20, 2021, at approximately 6:30 a.m., at the age of 90 years, one month and 24 days, at his home.
