Three Bulldog wrestlers are Upper Iowa Conference champs

Senior Tristen Koehn took the top spot at 157 pounds at the Upper Iowa Conference Tournament, held Jan. 25 at South Winn.

Sophomore heavyweight Will Howes also made it to the top of the podium, after pinning two opponents.

Mackenzie Bachman wrestled to a sixth-place finish at 125 pounds in a tough bracket.

At 170 pounds, junior Audrey Ruff lost her opening match by fall, but earned a pin of her own in the third round consolations.

Kennedy Bachman (100) went 2-2 at last week's regional/state qualifying tournament in Mason City.

Danica Friedlein wrestled hard in her two matches at 140 pounds.

Senior Amelya Weigand (130) wrapped up her wrestling career last week.

Bayleigh Wood brought a lot of excitement to the mat in her two 135-pound matches.

Charlotte L. Moore

Charlotte Louise (Miller) Moore, 80, of Elkader, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024. She was born Dec. 26, 1943, in Elkader, to Harold Eugene and Inez Louise (Behrens) Miller. She attended Elkader School and earned her GED later in life.

Joel Ellis Brown, 71, of Elkader,  passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., due to complications of emergency surgery. He was born Nov. 16, 1952, in Guttenberg to John and Ella (Noble) Brown.

Rev. David H. Andreae

Rev. David Harold Andreae, age 80, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at the Elkader Care Center. He was born March 18, 1943, in Oelwein to Herbert J. and Esther M. (Zwanziger) Andreae. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Sebald Lutheran Church, rural Strawberry Point. The family farmed in Clayton County between Strawberry Point and Volga in Sperry Township.
