John “Jackie" Geuder Jr.

John “Jackie" Geuder Jr., 77, of Guttenberg, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation was Monday, Jan. 29, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Graveside services were Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the Guttenberg City Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Shane Anderson.

Loras J. "Doc" Heck

Loras Joseph “Doc” Heck, 94, of Elkader, formerly of Garnavillo, Chicago, and Bensenville, Ill., died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at the Central Community Hospital in Elkader surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elkader, conducted by Rev. John Haugen. Visitation was before services at the church.

Interment was at Marion Lutheran Cemetery, Gunder, by Pastor Marshall Hahn.

John M. Conley, 83, of Sherrill, passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at Luther Manor of natural causes.

Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 4, at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, Dubuque, and also before services.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Steven Lamb.

Late last year, G&G Living in Guttenberg officially became part of Imagine the Possibilities, a nonprofit based in Maquoketa. G&G Executive Director Lorrie Meier transitioned to the position of chief financial officer, and Patrick Greener of Imagine the Possibilities has assumed the responsibilities of executive director.

GMHC partners with Medical Assoc. for obstetric care and deliveries

Leaders at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Clinics (GMHC) have announced that changes will be made to the hospital’s obstetric (OB) services, effective March 1. As a part of this, the hospital will be collaborating with Medical Associates in Dubuque to roll out a new model of obstetric care. 

“It is our responsibility to continuously improve the quality of health care we provide to our patients. The new partnership, developed by our physicians and nurses with Medical Associates, exemplifies that commitment,” stated Karen Merrick, chair of the GMHC Board of Directors.

Visitation was Monday, Jan. 29, at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clermont and before services at the church on Tuesday.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 30, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Clermont, conducted by Fr. Don Komboh.
