Betty Moser

 

Betty Ruth (Troester) Moser, 87, of Guttenberg, IA, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born into the family of Paul Emil and Flossie Mae (Friedlein) Troester, on October 28, 1927, on the family farm, north of the Turkey River in Millville Township.

Betty was baptized in 1928, in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg and later Pastor Coovert confirmed her in the same church on March 29, 1942. Betty graduated from the Friedlein Country School and Guttenberg High School in May of 1945.  She was unique in that she was neither tardy nor absent the entire 13 years of her schooling.

Foster Vern Koth, 95, of Monona, Iowa passed away Monday, January 12, 2015, at Triple Creek Retirement Community, Cincinnati, Ohio. 

Foster Vern Koth, son of Vern H. Koth and Tresa (Ames) Koth was born October 23, 1919, on a farm in Monona Township, Iowa.  He was baptized at Monona Methodist Church. Foster was educated in the Monona Schools.

WillaDean Ann (Lamphier) Kaeser, 81, of Decorah, lA, formerly of Waukon, lA, died on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home, in Decorah, lA, following an extended illness.

WillaDean was born May 5, 1933, in Elkader, Iowa to Willis and Nellie (Landis) Lamphier. WillaDean married Neil Nelson on August 24, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  WillaDean worked as a sales clerk, line worker at the plating and wiring plants and also at Swiss Valley Cheese in St Olaf.   In addition she cleaned homes and business in Elkader Iowa. The job she loved the most was working at a greenhouse.

Donald Houg


Donald Houg

 

 

Donald Nelson Houg, 90, of St. Olaf, died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. He was born August 23, 1924, in St. Olaf, to Ole K. and Clara (Nelson) Houg. Don was baptized and confirmed at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf. He was educated at St. Olaf Public School, Elkader High School and Elkader Junior College.

During WW II, he served in the Army Air Corp in the C.B.I. Theatre in India as a crew member on a B-25 bomber.
