September 17, 1945–April 2, 2026
Marcia R. “Susie” Baker, age 80 of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026, at home surrounded by her children.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1945, to Walter and Betty (McCullick) Crusan. She married Sam Baker on May 5, 1962, in Boscobel, and together they raised six children and worked on their family farm on Taylor Ridge near Seneca. Susie also worked at J&J’s Sewing before moving to Cabela’s in Prairie du Chien, where she worked as a seamstress until retirement. She was an active member of the Seneca and Prairie du Chien United Methodist Churches. Susie enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking, baking, gardening, and tending to her plants. Susie’s husband Sam preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2020. She is survived by her children Michael (Lori) Baker, Lisa Nies, Mark (Deb Wilkinson) Baker, Jason Baker, Lena (Eric) Kelley, and Nathan Baker; brother David Crusan; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerry Crusan, and an infant granddaughter.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Prairie du Chien, with private interment at a later date in the Dickson Ridge Cemetery in Lynxville. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family. www.garrityfuneralhome.com
