May 27, 1964 – March 13, 2026

 

Scott Joseph Scheckel, 61, passed away on March 13, 2026, in Hartford, CT, after suffering a stroke. Scott was born on May 27, 1964, in McGregor, Iowa, to Mark and Beverly Scheckel (Scrogum). As a kid, he spent most of his days working on the family farm on the ridge in Wauzeka, WI. He graduated from Wauzeka High School in 1982 and then joined the Navy. After leaving the Navy, Scott started working at American House. He loved doing carpentry and working in his garden. Many years later, he began working with mechanical machinery, fixing and taking things apart. 

Scott also loved sports, especially NASCAR and watching the Green Bay Packers.

Scott is survived by his mother, Beverly Scheckel of Cape Coral, FL; two brothers, Aaron Scheckel (Tammy) of Ferryville, WI, and Bart Scheckel, along with his spouse (Chuck Odorizzi), of Cape Coral, FL; and three sisters, Tina Dobson (Kevin) of Port Edwards, WI, Rhonda Scheckel Cady, with her spouse( Jen Cady), of Cape Coral, FL, and Kim Bastarache (Craig) of Marlborough, CT. He is also survived by eleven nephews and nieces: Mark, Brent (Whitney), Marissa (Nate), Neil, Mindy (Isaac), Jayme (Brandon), Madison, Alex, Olivia, Isabelle, and Lilyanne.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Mark Scheckel; his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
