Entire Warrior starting lineup earns all-conference recognition

The entire starting lineup for the Upper Iowa Conference small division champion Central boys basketball team has earned all-conference recognition. Owen Hammersland, Isaac Loan and Mason Loan were all named to the first team, while Griffen Hammersland and Jake Hertrampf received second team nods.

 

Owen Hammersland played in 23 games his junior season, leading the Warriors and ranking fourth in the UIC’s small division with 302 points, or 13.1 points per game. His 110 field goals and 37 three-pointers were tops for Central and fourth most among conference players. Hammersland was also the team’s best free throw shooter, sinking 63.4 percent of his 71 chances.

 

Additionally, Hammersland was high on the team stat sheet with 82 rebounds, 54 assists and 33 steals. 

 

Isaac Loan put up 227 points, or 10.3 points per game, in 22 games this season. That was tied for third most on the team. The senior shot 48.7 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from behind the arc. 

 

Loan’s 139 rebounds were second most for Central and eighth most in the Upper Iowa Conference small division, and he averaged 6.3 per contest. He was the team runner-up with 73 assists—a total that was also tied for third in the conference. With 49 steals, he ranked second on the team and fourth in the UIC.

 

Mason Loan was the Warriors’ second leading scorer, racking up 237 points in 23 games. That was an average of 10.3 per game and ninth most in the conference. Loan shot 47.1 percent from the field and drained 38.7 percent of three-pointers, which was the fifth-best rate in the UIC. Along with his scoring prowess, the sophomore also dished out a team-leading 103 assists—an average of 4.5 per game. That was second most among conference players.

 

Additionally, Loan nabbed 55 steals—the best for Central and the UIC. He collected 73 rebounds and four blocks as well. 

 

Sophomore Griffen Hammersland was a key scoring threat for the Warriors, tying for third with 227 points, or 11.4 points per game, across 20 games. He was the top three-point shooter for the Warriors and runner-up in the conference, with 51. His 39.2 percent three-point shooting percentage was fourth best in the UIC.

 

Hammersland’s stat line also included 81 rebounds, 30 assists and 25 steals.

 

Hertrampf played in 23 games his senior season, contributing 209 points, or 9.1 per game. He led the team and UIC small division with 163 rebounds—131 of them defensive and 32 offensive. That averaged out to 7.1 rebounds per game. 

 

Central and the UIC small division both saw Hertrampf as the top blocker, with 37 overall. He also finished the season with 38 assists and 29 steals.
