Central girls basketball players Layla Embretson, Brylee Erickson and Katie Royer have received all-conference honors in the Upper Iowa Conference’s small division.
Embretson, a senior, was named to the first team. She played in all 22 games for the Warriors, ranking second with 145 points, or 6.6 points per game. She made 59 of 160 field goal attempts for 36.9 percent and hit 44.3 percent of free throws, or 27 of 61.
Embretson was also a rebounding force, coming in second among Central players and fourth in the UIC small division with 151. Of those, 94 were defensive and 57 offensive. She averaged 6.9 rebounds per game.
Additionally, Embretson contributed 15 assists and 11 steals. She led the team—and tied for seventh in the conference—with 10 blocks.
Second team pick Erickson played in all 22 games, racking up a team-high 174 points—a total that was also seventh most in the Upper Iowa Conference small division. That averaged out to 7.9 points per game. The junior took the fifth most field goal attempts in the conference, making 56 of 242 for 23.1 percent, and was third in three-point attempts (145) and fourth in completions (30). Erickson took—and made—the most free throws among Warrior players and ranked fifth in the UIC, coming in at 32 of 64.
Erickson was the Central runner-up and 10th in the conference with 39 assists. She snagged 48 rebounds and 30 steals, along with one block.
Also a second team selection, Royer played in 21 games her senior season. She scored the third most points for the Warriors, at 138, and averaged 6.6 points per game. She was also among team leaders with 96 rebounds and 20 assists and was Central’s top steal threat, with 77 total. That averaged out to 3.7 per game. Royer recorded five blocks as well.
