Marjorie Enid Taylor, 88, of Elkader, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at MercyOne Hospital in Dubuque.  She was born on Nov. 14, 1937, in Iowa, to Helmer and Ruby Peterson. Marjorie was united in marriage to Gus Lutz, Francis Shea and Frank Taylor.

 

She graduated, became a certified nurse’s assistant and devoted her life to helping people. Marjorie found joy in quilting, especially creating quilts for her family and for missions at the church, sharing her love with every stitch. Raising chickens, caring for animals and gardening were passions that brought her comfort and fulfillment. Visiting Pizza Ranch was a cherished treat. Watching westerns was high on her list. Family was at the heart of her world—she cherished visiting her children and grandchildren, and hosting Christmas Eve and the 4th of July, creating lasting memories with those she loved.

 

Marjorie is survived by her brother, David Taylor; and her children, Steven (Donna) Lutz, Laura (James) White, Tom Shea, Mike (Jeanette) Shea, and Debra (Tom) McBurney; 13 grandchildren; over 40 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

 

Preceding her in death were husbands Francis Shea and Frank Taylor; children, Patrick Shea and Bret Shea; and sisters, Adrian Gronaue, Paula Everitt and Paulette Stoffel.

 

Visitation was on Feb. 24, at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home in Elkader. Funeral service was on Feb. 25, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkader, with Rev. Kate Johnson officiating. Interment was at Mt. Harmony Cemetery, Elkport.
