The Central/Ed-Co wrestling team wrapped up its dual schedule with wins over Bellevue and Wahlert, Dubuque on Feb. 3.

The dual with Wahlert included seven forfeits—one double, six in favor of Wahlert and one for Central/Ed-Co’s Eddie DeShaw at 126 pounds. Central/Ed-Co had the advantage in wrestled matches, however, with falls for George Reimer (132), Nolan Gaul (144), Braxton Bormann (150), Mack Perrinjaquet (175) and Kayden Williams (215). Colton Hoisington earned a technical fall at 165 pounds to add key points.

Central/Ed-Co eased past Bellevue 48-18 in the second dual. There were double forfeits at the opening three weights, then Central/Ed-Co picked up forfeit wins at 132, 138 and 144 pounds with Reimer, Gaul and Kinnick Robbins. The team also racked up multiple falls thanks to DeShaw, Bormann, Isaiah Burns (157), Parker Funke (165) and Hoisington.

Bellevue’s points came on falls over Perrinjaquet, Williams and heavyweight Ben Pierschbacher.

Next up, Central/Ed-Co will host a Class 1A district meet on Saturday, Feb. 14, where the top two wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the state tournament in Des Moines next week. Wrestling will begin at 10 a.m. at Edgewood-Colesburg High School.
