Chet Bachman

By Audrey Posten | Times-Register

Chet Bachman will be MFL MarMac’s next high school principal. The school board approved his hiring at its Jan. 12 regular meeting.

Bachman is an MFL MarMac graduate and has been an educator and coach at the district for over 20 years. He currently teaches elementary physical education and is a driver’s education instructor. He is also an interventionist and mentor teacher. Last year, Bachman retired from his long-time tenure as MFL MarMac’s high school wrestling coach.

Bachman will take over for Larry Meyer, who last fall announced his retirement following the current school year.

The hiring has prompted a restructuring of school administration. At a work session on Jan. 6, the board expressed interest in having one full-time administrator in the elementary principal position, thus freeing up superintendent Tim Dugger to work more with Bachman. In addition to his role as superintendent, Dugger is also the elementary principal, while Abbey Cottrell serves as assistant principal.

Applications for the elementary position will be accepted, with interviews planned in February.

Along with Bachman, the board approved several other staffing changes at last week’s meeting. This included the hiring of Bailey Winter as elementary physical education teacher and interventionist, Kathy Bugenhagen for food service and Sage Stellmacher as head high school baseball coach. Casey Evanson’s resignation as high school student council advisor was accepted.
