The Central girls basketball team dropped two Upper Iowa Conference games to Waukon and South Winneshiek last week, falling to 5-10 overall and 3-7 in conference play this season.

Waukon jumped ahead 17-5 in the first quarter and pulled away 28-10 by halftime of the Jan. 15 game. The Indians eventually won 45-23.

On Jan. 16, Central didn’t let South Winneshiek pull away early. They trailed just 8-7 after the first period and 16-11 at halftime, even tying South Winn midway through the third quarter. South Winneshiek built an eight-point lead, at 28-20, by the end of the frame, only for Central to close the gap again. It wasn’t quite enough, though, as South Winn won 41-33.

The Warriors have just one game this week: an Upper Iowa Conference match-up at Clayton Ridge on Jan. 23.
