The Central/Ed-Co wrestling team went 0-2 in a pair of duals at an Upper Iowa Conference meet at Waukon on Jan. 13.
The night started with a 66-15 loss to North Fayette Valley, who tallied six wins by forfeit against the smaller Central/Ed-Co squad. The TigerHawks also picked up points with falls over Cooper Brown (144), Zane Embretson (175), Kayden Williams (215), Landon Glawe (285) and Kinnick Robbins (138).
Colton Hoisington and George Reimer led Central/Ed-Co with falls at their respective 190- and 132-pound weights. Isaiah Burns scored a 12-6 decision win at 157.
Waukon proved even more tough, defeating Central-Ed-Co 71-9. Like NFV, the Indians benefited from forfeits at six weights. They also picked up falls over Burns, Embretson, Williams and Glawe. Hoisington lost by technical fall and Brown couldn’t finish due to a medical forfeit.
Reimer earned another fall for Central/Ed-Co, while Robbins came out on top in a 13-10 decision.
The team wrapped up the week Jan. 17, at the MFL MarMac Invitational. Only two wrestlers competed, led by a fourth-place finish for Hoisington at 165 pounds. Burns did not place at 157.
Central/Ed-Co’s only competition this week is the John Byers Invitational at Midland on Jan. 24.
