Quillin’s grocery store in Monona to close

The Quillin’s grocery store in Monona will close permanently on Friday, Jan. 23.

 

Monona City Administrator Barb Collins shared the news at the Jan. 5 city council meeting. 

 

“They have already had their last truck, so what is in the store is what is in the store,” she said.

 

According to Collins, Kevin Moore owns the building at 808 Main St., but Quillin’s Quality Foods owns the merchandise and equipment inside. If anyone would like to take over the grocery store, it’s advised they do so before the equipment is sold.

 

“We have a manager, if we can get an investor to do it. Then all the equipment could stay to run it,” she said. “But it’s going to be really hard to get somebody to run it.” 

 

“Putting it out there in case anybody knows of somebody that wants to keep this going,” Collins continued. “We have some good employees who would love to stay who are sad to be losing their job. The majority of them are retiring.”
