First-year head coach Dan Moris and his River Ridge boys’ basketball team collected their first victory of the 2025-26 season last Friday night, beating host Albany, 55-40, in a Six Rivers conference contest.
With the win, coach Moris and the Timberwolves improved to 1-1 in league play and 1-3 overall, while Albany fell to 0-2, 1-2.
Against the Comets, River Ridge held a halftime lead of 28-20, then outscored their opponent 27-20 in the second half.
The Timberwolves outscored Albany 30-16 in the paint and converted 15 Comet turnovers into 15 points. They out-rebounded their opponent 43-24 and scored 20 second-chance points to their opponent’s 12.
From the field, River Ridge made 22-of-57 (39 percent) shot attempts, including 7-of-24 (29 percent) from 3-point range. They were 4-of-9 (44 percent) from the line and committed 14 turnovers.
Senior Brock Bunge led the Timberwolves with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, including 1-of-2 from downtown.
While fellow senior Brandon Davis finished the night with 13 points, he also dished out four assists to become the all-time career assist leader in school history, surpassing assistant coach Nate Copsey’s mark of 300.
Junior Noah Copsey dished out a team-high five assists in the victory, to go along with a team-high 13 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end.
Following this past Monday night’s home game against Wauzeka-Steuben, the Timberwolves will host Belmont this Thursday evening.
