Following an eight day layoff, the Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets boys basketball team returned to game competition this past Friday night when they played host to Weston in their conference opener and came away with a 67-48 victory for their first win of the season. 

 

The Hornets had four players reach double figures in scoring in the win, led by leading scorer and senior Cooper Lomas with 18 points. He was joined by sophomore Josh Martin (14 points), senior Theo Millin (12 points) and sophomore Bentley Dums (10 points).

 

Rounding out the Hornets scoring tally was senior Julius Cooley (eight points), senior Clint Mitchell (four points) and sophomore Cody Wagner (one point). Lomas also grabbed a team high 15 rebounds in the win with Cooley and Millin each collecting six rebounds each. The Hornets defense collected 26 steals, including seven each by Mitchell and Martin.

 

W-S (1-2) traveled to Patch Grove this past Monday night to face River Ridge (1-3) in a non-conference matchup before returning to conference play this Thursday night at Ithaca High School.
