The Prairie du Chien girls basketball team was back on the court last week with a pair of home games and the Hawks were dealt their first back-to-back losses in two years thanks to Fennimore and River Valley.
First up for the Hawks was Fennimore last Tuesday, Dec. 2. Despite holding a 29-24 halftime lead over the tenth ranked team in D4 in the Golden Eagles, it was not enough to overcome a strong second half by Fennimore as they outscored the Hawks 28-17 as they handed PdC a 52-46 loss.
The Hawks had three players in double figures in scoring as juniors Karly Kramer and Claire Kennedy and sophomore Kristin Nolan all had 12 points in the game, while juniors Camryn Knapp (nine points) and Emory Campbell (two points) rounded out the Hawks scoring tally.
Kramer also grabbed seven rebounds and had four assists while Knapp had six rebounds and five assists. Kennedy (six rebounds) and Nolan (five rebounds) added to the Hawks rebounding total.
River Valley traveled to Prairie du Chien this past Friday night, Dec. 5 and the visiting Blackhawks handily defeated the Hawks 54-26 for their first win over PdC since 2017. Knapp led the Hawks with 15 points and three rebounds. Kennedy added five pounds, four assists, three rebounds and two steals while Nolan collected four points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Ninth grader Mya Mahr scored her first two varsity points while grabbing three rebounds.
Prairie du Chien (1-2) heads to Lancaster tomorrow night before wrapping things up this Saturday at Platteville High School when they take on Mount Horeb at 4:00 p.m. as part of the Platteville Jamboree.
