The MFL MarMac girls wrestling team dropped tough duals to Postville and Waukon in an Upper Iowa Conference triangular on Dec. 2.

Postville benefitted from four forfeits and won six matches over the Bulldogs en route to a 54-18 victory in the first dual. Kennedy Bachman and Aaliyah Corcoran earned falls in their respective 100- and 110-pound matches, and Charlotte Koether won via forfeit at 135, giving MFL MarMac its points.

Bulldogs Alydia Abel (140), Isla Henkes (170), Hannah Jacobson (190), April Upton (235), Veda Torkelson (120) and Ayla Ruff (125) were pinned in their matches. There were double forfeits at 105 and 155 pounds.

Bachman collected another fall in the dual over Waukon, while teammates Corcoran and Koether added points with a major decision and technical fall. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Indians, who won 53-15. After double forfeits at 145 and 155 pounds, Waukon picked up forfeit victories at 110, 115, 120 and 140 pounds, then took down MFL MarMac in multiple matches. Abel, Henkes, Jacobson and Upton were pinned, while Ruff lost by technical fall.

This week, the Bulldogs were slated to face New Hampton/Turkey Valley and North Fayette Valley in another Upper Iowa Conference triangular on Dec. 9, but it was postponed by weather. They will head to the South Winn Girls Wrestling Invitational on Dec. 12.
