March 10, 1932–October 30, 2025

Neil F. Gardner, age 93, of Glen Haven, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home.  

He was born on March 10, 1932, in Grant County, the son of Charles and Lena (Esser) Gardner.  Neil graduated from Bloomington High School in 1950.  

On June 3, 1965, he was united in marriage to Doris I. (Beneker) Campbell at St. John’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien.  Together they farmed the Gardner family farm in Glen Haven Township.  Neil was a lifelong farmer and resident of Glen Haven/North Andover.  

He served on the Grant County Board for 22 years, was the chairman from 1990-1998, served on the Glen Haven Township Board for 40 years and spent many years as the town board chairman.  Neil also volunteered for the Glen Haven Volunteer Fire Department for several years.  He enjoyed farming, playing cards, and bowling for Kussmaul Seeds in Cassville.

Survivors include his children: Nancy (Bob) Bierman, Dan (Char), Ken (Deb), and Kevin (Natalie) Campbell, Jane (Brad) White; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Chuck (Rita) and sister-in-law, Delores Gardner; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife Doris, Neil was preceded in death by a brother, Monroe (Wilma) Gardner and a sister, Evie (Tom) Krogman; a great-granddaughter, Marrisa Zach; brother-in-law, Roger (Alice) Beneker.

Funeral and Fireman’s services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 11:30 a.m. at Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1234 South Madison St., Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating.  Burial will be in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township.  Family and friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.  In lieu of plants and flowers, donations in the memory of Neil F. Gardner may be made to the Glen Haven Fire Department and/or the Glen Haven First Responders.
