The Wauzeka-Steuben Cross Country team traveled to Kickapoo High School last Tuesday, Sept. 30 for the annual Kickapoo/La Farge Invitational and they came back with a pair of third place team finishes. The boys race saw the Hornet boys place third out of 11 teams with 70 points. Leading the way for the Hornets was junior Nolan Reed-Mullikin, who finished in third place in a time of 18:55. Sophomore Cody Wagner placed 13th in a time of 20:19, just ahead of teammate Wyatt Mullikin in 15th place in a time of 20:47. Rounding out the race for the Hornets were Theo Millin in 38th (24:11), Bentley Dums in 41st (24:32) and Brody Bunders in 48th (25:17).
The Hornet girls scored 55 points as a team as they placed third out of 10 teams. Senior Natalie Wright was the top finisher for the Hornets, placing 15th in a time of 23:40. Following Wright in 16th through 19th place was teammates Alayna Martin in 16th (24:00), Emma Udelhoven in 17th (24:43), Leah Peralta in 18th (25:27) and Stella Walz in 19th (25:28). Other Hornets also running in the race included Abby Wright in 24th (27:41), Mallory McCullick in 25th (27:42), Brynnlee Benoy in 27th (28:52), Avery Kilburg in 36th (31:19) and Ellah Jones in 40th (31:59).
Wauzeka-Steuben was back running at yesterday’s Timberwolf Invitational at Wisconsin Badger Camp before wrapping the week this Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Riverdale Invitational at 9:00 a.m.
Prairie du Chien Cross Country competed in their one and only meet of last week this past Saturday at Platteville High School’s Dick McKichan Invitation at UW-Platteville’s Veterans Memorial Park with the boys and girls teams both placing seventh in the small schools division races. The boys scored 174 points while the girls finished with 186 points.
Earning top finisher honors once again for the boys team was senior Sam Kramer, who finished in eighth place individually in a time of 17:15. He was followed by Landon Smith in 22nd place (18:28), Lane Henderson in 25th place (18:46), Joey Kramer in 64th place (21:33), Matthew Kramer in 71st place (22:55) and Caleb Mezera in 74th place (24:00).
Karly Kramer was the top finisher for the PdC girls, placing 26th individually in a time of 22:43. She was followed by Kennady Fradette in 31st place (23:16), Kate Gebhard in 46th place (25:32), Mairany Morales in 55th place (27:09), Kayli Schnitzler in 61st place (29:03), Autumn Ziegler in 63rd place (29:32) and Lyla Redman in 68th place (30:52).
Like the Hornets, the Blackhawks ran at the River Ridge Invitational this past Tuesday evening before ending the week at the Riverdale Invitational in Muscoda this Saturday, Oct. 11 at 9:00 a.m.
