The filing period for the upcoming local elections closed on Thursday, September 18. 

 

Residents will be voting for new mayors, council members, school board members and public measures across the county on Tuesday, November 4.

City Elections

 

Clayton’s election will include mayor and five council seats all with two year terms.

Mayor: Kaitlyn Kuehl-Berns*

• Council: Nichole Michels*, Rod Drexler*, Tim Brandel, David C. Hart, Danelle Kuehl, Kim Hildebrand, Toni J. Schultz*, Kimberly S. Kuehl* and Cathy Staake

 

Elkader’s election will include three council seats for four year terms.

• Council: Curtis Ruhser, Roger Buchholz and Anthony Hauber*.

 

Elkport’s election will include mayor and three council seats all with two year terms. No candidates filed.

 

Farmerburg’s election will include mayor and two council seats. The mayor’s term is two year and council members’ are four years.

Garber’s election will include mayor and five council seats all with two year terms. No candidates filed.

 

Garnavillo’s election will include three council seats for four year terms.

Guttenberg’s election will include mayor and three council seats all with four year terms. Voters will also select two hospital trustees to four year terms.

Monona’s election will include mayor and two council seats.  The mayor’s term is two years and council members’ are four years.

Volga’s election will include mayor and five council seats all with two year terms.

School Elections

 

Central Community School District’s  election will include four board of directors seats with four year terms. Candidates include: Jarod Bormann, Josh Embretson*, Jared Funk*, Abby Heitman and Courtney Scherf*.

 

Clayton Ridge Community School District’s  election will include three board of directors seats with four year terms. Candidates include: Korey Wilker, Melissa Wilker, Jason Bittner, Ellen Johnson*, Michelle Mertens-Dodgen, Jessica Bittner* and Micheal W. Finnegan*.

 

MFL MarMac Community School District’s  election will include four board of directors seats with four year terms. Candidates include: Jonna Schutte, Bridget Schultz, Aaron Schroeder*, Jonathon Moser*, Joshua Grau* and Marti Post.

 

Postville Community School District’s  election will include two board of directors seats with four year terms. Candidates include: Michael Sass, Mary Huinker and Crystal Duffy.

 

Starmont Community School District’s  election will include two board of directors seats with four year terms. Candidates include: Cheryl Northrop, Victoria K. Althoff*, Jacob Moellers* and Nathan Meyers.

 

Public Measures

 

Residents of the city of McGregor will see a public measure on their ballot on modifications to the city’s composition and selection of the public library board of trustees.

 

Residents in the Starmont School District will see a public measure on their ballot whether or not the Starmont Community School District will be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $9,800,000 to provide funds to improve the HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing system in it’s existing facility.

 

Residents in the North Fayette Valley School District will see a public measure on their ballot to adopt a Resolution Purpose Statement specifying the use of revenues the North Fayette Valley Community School District will receive from the State of Iowa Secure an Advanced Vision for Education Fund.

 

Extended hours will be available for voter registration and absentee voting at the Clayton County Auditor’s Office as follows: 

• Monday, October 20 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

• Friday, October 31 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

• Tuesday, November 4 from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

 

Regular office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

Polls will be open on election day, Tuesday, November 4, from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. 

 

Absentee ballots will become available on Wednesday, October 15. The last day voters can mail in absentee ballots is Monday, October 20. In person absentee voting at the Auditor’s Office closed on Monday, November 3 at 4 p.m.
