With six runners in top 15, MFL MarMac girls second at Central Invite

Six runners placed in the top 15 to propel the MFL MarMac girls cross country team to second at the Central Invitational on Sept. 18. The Bulldogs earned a team score of 37, not far behind the 29 from South Winneshiek.

 

It was another strong race from junior McKenna Kozelka, who was the runner-up with a time of 20:57.70. Dunkerton’s Abbi Waskow blew away the field with a 19:32.30.

 

Bulldogs Brooke Donlon and Evelyn Fritz came in a respective ninth and 10th with times of 22:15.30 and 22:28.50, while Cora Keehner cruised to 12th on a 22:46.00 and Brooklyn Landt 13th with a 23:07.60. Taryn Moser ran the race in 23:29.70 to place 15th, followed by Aaliyah Corcoran and Skylar Fisk in 17th and 18th with times of 23:36.90 and 23:52.50.

 

Emma Koether was next up in 24th, completing the course in 25:15.70, and teammates Kacie Picha and Samantha Ruff were 26th and 30th based on times of 25:47.60 and 26:13.80. Emma Driscoll was 35th with a 27:26.10, Lauryn Sandstrom 37th with a 27:33.10, Charlotte Koether 47th with a 29:07.40, Jerica Wille 49th with a 29:45.80 and Kaylee Hoth 52nd with a 30:10.10.

 

The MFL MarMac boys were unable to field a team score, but had three runners with strong races. Trace Moser turned in a 20:24.70 for 22nd place, then Jude Onken was 36th with a 21:39.80 and Adian Reynolds 38th thanks to a 21:56.90.

 

The Bulldogs will compete in two meets this week, at Waukon on Sept. 23, then Grundy Center on Sept. 25.
