Celebrate Earth Day and Mother’s Day in McGregor on Saturday, May 10.

For the second year, the McGregor-Marquette Chamber of Commerce is hosting Mimosas with Mom at the Backwoods Event Center in McGregor. Bring your mom—or anyone you love—to sip on mimosas starting at 9 a.m. Pose at the photo booth, browse a variety of vendors and participate in a plant swap and sale, then sign up to win one of two gift packages before heading out to shop Main Street merchants. Fifty swag bags featuring goodies from local businesses will be given out to the first people through the door.

The event will run until 1 p.m., but those who plan to donate or swap plants should bring them by 10 a.m. Plant donations can also be dropped off earlier in the week at the chamber office at 146 Main St., in McGregor. Most plants will be sold for $5 or less, with proceeds supporting future chamber events. This is a great way to share your garden bounty and see if you can find something new.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be the Turner Park: Fitness for All Ages Committee’s annual Earth Day Fun Day. Stop by Turner Park, located next to the Great River Care Center and Turner Pointe Assisted Living, to make fairy gardens and art projects and celebrate the grand opening of the park’s new restroom and concession stand building.

Also enjoy food and bid in the basket auction. Baskets are on display at the McGregor Public Library until May 9, then final bidding will be at the Earth Day event. Photos of baskets are posted on the “Turner Park: Fitness For All Ages” Facebook page. Earth Day proceeds will go toward continued park improvements.
