April 8, 1944–April 19, 2025
William F. “Bill” Lynch, age 81 of Prairie du Chien passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at home surrounded by his family following an extended illness.
He was born in Milwaukee on April 8, 1944, to William and Marian (Klingler) Lynch. Bill spent his younger years living in the Milwaukee area before moving to Antigo.
At the age of 17 Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army, and later the U.S. Marine Corps, serving three tours in Vietnam.
Bill married Jeanne Husnik and together, they had two children, Amy Sue and Brad William. Bill later married Susan “Sue” (née Check) Cooley at Lake Delton, later moving to Prairie du Chien.
Bill was a truck driver for 38 years, working for many different companies. Sue joined him driving in 1997. Bill and Sue owned and operated B.S. Transport. Bill and Sue were Trucker Buddies to the River Ridge 3rd grade classes for 13 years. Bill was also one of the assigned Ice Road Truckers, hauling pipes to Prudhoe Bay for pipeline construction. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Sue; 2 sons Brad (Courtney Leese) Lynch of Antigo and Brian (Meg) Cooley on Monona Iowa; siblings Scott (Diane Davis) Heidersdorf of Bradenton, Fla., Sue (Jeffrey Lemke) Lockhart of Ontonogon, Mich., Beth Heidersdorf of Oshkosh, Jane Wilson on Racine, Carolyn Talbert of Union Grove, and Marie Chaussee of Waterford; grandchildren Monica Duffek and Jake Lynch, great grandson Sylas Lynch, special granddaughter Autumn Bach and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughters Amy Lynch and Melissa “Missy” Cooley.
According to Bill’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services at this time.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with inurnment in the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien. Military Honors will be accorded graveside by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.
