Bulldogs play tough at Wapsie Valley, New Hampton

The MFL MarMac girls golf team faced strong competition in a pair of meets at Wapsie Valley and New Hampton last week.

 

The Bulldogs put up a combined 396 at Prairie Links Golf Course on April 21, in a meet hosted by Wapsie Valley. New Hampton posted the top score of 328, followed by Oelwein with 353, Waverly-Shell Rock 365, Jesup 379 and Denver 388. Wapsie Valley did not field a team score.

 

Oelwein’s Grace Lewis was the meet medalist after shooting a 71, two strokes better than New Hampton’s Kirsten Nuss. MFL MarMac’s top individual score was a 91 from Hannah Jacobson, who placed 10th. Devon Meyer finished with a 97, tying for 14th, while Morgan Jacobson shot a 100 and tied for 18th. Taylor Randall, Hadyn Meyer and Mariah Moser rounded out the Bulldogs’ scores with a 108, 111 and 113.

 

On April 22, MFL MarMac again met New Hampton, who won a triangular at the New Hampton Golf and Country Club with a team score of 155. Crestwood placed second with a 185, followed by the Bulldogs in third with a 208.

 

The Chickasaws boasted the top four individual scores, including a 37 from medalist Lauren Nuss and 38 by K. Nuss. Randall turned in the top result for MFL MarMac, finishing eighth with a 50. M. Jacobson shot a 52, tying her for 11th place, then D. Meyer and H. Jacobson tied for 14th with 53s. H. Meyer finished the round with a 58, landing her 17th, while Jerica Wille finished 19th with a 64.

 

After an April 28 meet at West Central was postponed due to weather, the Bulldogs began this week at Central on April 29, in a make-up meet from the week prior. They will host Turkey Valley at Tri City Golf Course on May 1.
