With 97 team points, the River Ridge boys track and field team finished third at this past Tuesday’s North Crawford Invite, while the River Ridge girls placed fourth with 87.6 points.
Leading the way for the River Ridge boys was senior thrower Elliott Thornton, who set a new school record in the discus and finished first with a toss of 148’4”, beating the previous record by four inches. Thornton also added a third-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 41’7”.
Second-place finishes for the River Ridge boys were collected by Peter Polodna in the 300 hurdles (:47.22) and Ren Bowen in the pole vault (11’6”), along with the 4x200 relay team (1:40.69) of Bryy Clark, Luke Breuer, Brandon Davis and Brock Bunge.
While the River Ridge girls did not have anyone bring home a first-place finish, second-place finishes were awarded to Leah Patterson in the 1600 (6:04.34), Chloe West in the 3200 (16:19.15), Reghan Zinkle in the 100 hurdles (:18.84) and Ava Nies in the triple jump (30’4”).
The Lady Timberwolves also finished second in three of the four relay events, that included the 4x100 (:59.08), the 4x400 (4:40.95) and the 4x800 (11:47.24).
Competing at last Thursday night’s Lancaster Invite, the River Ridge boys scored 44 points to finish sixth of 18 competing teams, while the River Ridge girls scored six points to finish 18th.
Scoring the girls’ only points in the meet was Leah Patterson, with her third-place finish in the 3200 (12:40.42).
The boys were again led by Thornton, who placed first in the discus (145’0”) and second in the shot put (45’5.75”), while Peter Polodna was second in the 300 hurdles (:44.94).
