Royals track team starts outdoors season

The Seneca Royals track team opened up their outdoor season on Tuesday, April 1 at the River Ridge Invitational with the boys team taking sixth place out of seven teams with 11 points and the girls team also finishing in sixth place out of six teams with14 points.

Leading the way for the Seneca boys was Gabe Hamann, who finished third in the 1600 Meter Run in a time of 5:44.65, Thomas Caya was sixth in the 400 Meter Dash in a time of 1:01.26 and Ben Payne, seventh in the Discus Throw with a throw of 102-07.  The Seneca girls got a fourth place finish from Livian Starkey in the Long Jump with a jump of 12-01.50, a fourth place finish in the Shot Put from Lenee Schauffer with a throw of 22-10.25 and a sixth place finish in the 100 Meter Hurdles by Starkey in a time of 21.39.

The Royals returned to action a week later at the North Crawford Invitational on April 8 and the boys team finished in fifth place out of nine teams with 70 points while the girls were ninth with nine points. Top finishers for the Seneca boys were Caya second in the 400 Meter Dash in a time of 55.12, Hamann sixth in the 800 Meter Run in 2:17.29, third in the 1600 Meter Run in 5:08.63 and sixth in the 3200 Meter Run in 12:24.91, Tuckler Stluka (17.72) and Aidan Payne (18.13) second and third in the 110 Meter Hurdles, Stluka first in the 300 Meter Hurdles (44.63), the 4x200 Meter Relay team of Jonathan Morrick-Brouillette, Aidan Payne, Grant Sime and Pablo Altadill in sixth place in 1:54.34 and Stluka (5-10.00) and Payne (5-08.00) first and second in the High Jump.

The Royal girls were paced by a fifth place finish by 4x100 Meter Relay team of Sara Bilbao, Clara Delgado, Sofia Rocha and Starkey in a time of 1:03.78, with Starkey also adding a fifth place finish in the 100 Meter Hurdles in a time of 19.86.

The Royals are at the Cashton Invitational tomorrow afternoon starting at 4:00 p.m. before traveling next week to the Kickapoo Invitational on Tuesday, April 22 at 4:00 p.m. and Boscobel on Thursday, April 24 for the Bulldog Relays.
