Central/Ed-Co wrestling drops final duals

Last week was a light one for the Central/Ed-Co wrestling team, with just one dual in Hudson on Feb. 3, against Bellevue, Dubuque Wahlert and Hudson. While the Warriors competed hard, they came up short in all three duals.
The closest dual was a 34-33 loss to Bellevue, despite going 5-3 in matches. That included wins by fall for Connor Davis at 285 pounds, Zane Embretson at 126, Nolan Gaul at 138 and Colton Hoisington at 175. At 120 pounds, Adam Kloser won a 6-4 decision. Parker Funke (165), Preston Kulper (150) and Derek Deitchler (144) all lost.
Against Hudson, Central went 6-3 in matches, but lost four forfeits and the overall dual 42-30. Kloser won a 7-2 decision and Kulper took a 7-6 decision. Embretson, Gaul, Deitchler and Funke achieved falls and Davis and Hoisington both lost.
In the dual with Dubuque Wahlert, Central went 2-6 in matches, with wins by Kulper via 18-11 decision and Funke with a fall. Davis, Embretson, Kinnick Robbins (132), Cooper Brown (144) and Hoisington all lost.
Next up for Central/Ed-Co is the Class 1A - District 2 state qualifying meet in Denver on Saturday, Feb. 15. Matches start at 10 a.m.
